Paul J Posted February 8, 2008 Report Posted February 8, 2008 It is with Sadness that i report the untimley death of B.A.S.S menber David Bourne Dave Bourne, 1954 - 2008 Dave - pictured at the '89 AGM (Fry's Club), shaking hands with Hefin Jones and receiving a tankard to mark the capture of his shore-caught record bass of 19lb and 1/2 oz . I would guess that many current members may not have even been fishing for bass back in 1988 when Dave caught his record fish. To still be fishing for bass nearly 20 years on with the same enthusiasm and passion that Dave had, after catching what must be considered the ultimate bass, is something worth thinking about. _______________ Here is what he had to say to the new record holder: Dave Bourne WSF Lite Poster Join Date: Sep 2007 Location: Wigtownshire Super looking fish olly,if you have looked at the existing bass record (shore) you will have seen my name against it , yes it was my fish that you beat ,and very well beaten at that,my congratulation. As for getting it set-up , please get it done for yourself mine has been on the kitchen wall now for 19 years and has brought me great pleasure,I had 4 copies made which are really good one of those was going to the natural history museum but to be honest they were not that interested .If you want to see one there are 2 of the copies in Dover if you are ever down that way one in the Dover S.A.A. club house and one in bills bait shop.If you want the name of the taxidermist that did mine pm me or leave a post here and i will get back to you. A funny thing as just come to mind i have held the record for 19 years the fish weighed 19lb and when caught it was 19 years old , odd that. Anyway enough for now , congratulation again , and please think about getting it mounted for you own pleasure. Good luck Dave. Quote
