Gnasher
Well done trev, always good to get the first bass of the year under the belt Sorry to hear about John Skeggs, a friend of mine has said a similar thing to me some time back. Id love him to read what you have written and respond, as acting like this will certainly win no friends. I for one would never crew for a charter skipper that treats his fellow fisherman with suck a lack of respect.
great white
Hi Trevor What a great start to your Bass season I have never met Mr Skeggs but I have heard of his manner and behavior before I am sure there should be something that could be done about it, do the charter skippers not have an association?? if it was dangerous report a near miss to the MCA. Interested to know what the other crews thought. Charlie
Coddy
Nice one Trev Good to hear you managed to catch in the end. How did Otter perform? Coddy
Swainiac
Trev, well done chap, a good fish in what proved difficult conditions. Skeggs......mmm what can I say? He assumes that the mark in question is his own property, he has done similar to myself and Les when we fished the mark, and yes, he steers a course either straight at you, or between you and another boat thus making fishing almost impossible. He appears to have a somewhat cavalier approach to skippering, and I wonder what he says to his crew. Perhaps video footage is the way forward, sending this in to the MCA. I'd hate to resort to a 12oz lead through the wheelhouse! Well done chap anyway. Rich
Wedger
Rich Well, a few years ago I would have been more tempted to stoop to his level, but pehaps, as he clearly needs to advertise his presence the MCA and PBA (although I don't think he's a member) will be hearing of it. He appears to have lead a charmed life so far, as he's managed to avoid most of his victims on the quay. That will change at some point for sure if he carries on like that. How did Otter perform? Another small adjustment needed.
Paul J
Not sure what can be done but he keeps getting away with it so lets not stay quiet. it would be great to catch hin on Video next time. I think his behaviour should be made public so others are aware - a post on WSF would help. Trev, if you write to Coddy he can inform the PDSA and ask them to write to the skippers association. Anything to put pressure on this idiot PJ
Wedger
All done at 06:00 this morning Paul! I've done the WSF site with the same report. I've sent a link to PBA and MCA. If he wants advertising, he's got it! I will send a formal written complaint as needed.

Wedger
I took the opportunity to speak with John Skeggs today ref. the above. He explained that there was genuinely no malicious intent on his part, he didn't notice we were fishing and apologised for the incident. I have to say that I personally would still not drive my craft between two angling boats 50 yards apart that were clearly on the drift on a known mark. That said, apology accepted. end of.
