All this about local Tuna,, the pupils from St Edwards were keen to have a go yesterday.

Success!!!!!! They were extremely fortunate to land not only one, but TWO tuna rolls each, spread thinly with light flora, including cucumber trimmings. The catering manager, Mrs Elkins even provided ready salted crips, and a cereal bar for each lad. Then of course, if the school acceptable drinks list would allow, we might have washed this down with lashings of ginger beer, but this old favorite was placed on the banned drinks list a few months ago.......alas!

Spurred on by reports from the PBSBAC website of great catches from local marks, the team of five chums and four intrepid staff sallied forth along the beach to their chosen mark Hengistbury Head. Tackle was expertly and lovingly set up, and the chums argued over who should tackle the monsterous items of bait required to be attached to the buisiness end of their lines. Eventually, one brave member of staff was able to risk the bites of the huge maddies in the bait box, and risked serious injury to finger tips, threading these beasties on the hooks. With lines baited, argumenets ensued over who should fish where. Instead of the sissy method of drawing straws, the St Edwards boys decided upon the ancient noble sport of swearing and mother cussing, with the most obscene being allowed to make his chosed swim.

Marks and swims decided upon, these intrepid anglers fished their socks off, remaining clam and confident in their selected angling styles. One lad even managed to make friends with a local angler, who allowed the young lad to snag his line not once, but twice, to much merriment from his chums!

With the tide rising steadily up their chosen mark, these five ambassedeurs for the Private school, set about catching a selection of species, including Ballans to 2.5lbs, Gobies, and Blennies, and despite furious efforrts to cast into the fast tidal flow, two of the chums were unable to bag the elusive mackeral, only making furtive jealous glances towards the locals as they bagged their tea for the evening.

The five scholars enjoyed a fantastic afternoon, no eyes were blacked, no lads drowned, no staff were sacked, and we all returned to the sanctury of the school for a hearty supper.

When they recounted how one of the lads was not allowed a ciggarette in public, and spat his dummy out for a few hours, how we all laughed!!!!

All too soon it was showers and lights out, all the five chums soundo by 2140hrs, and looking forward to their next days adventure at Two Lakes fishery. I hear we may bag Salmon their!!!!

im glad the lads enjoyed it mate. Hopefully they will have just as much fun on the lakes. I know a few carp bagging pools that will suit them down to the ground, so if you need any fisheries in the future, buzz me mate. I may also be able to pop down and give some advice, and could possible lend them some gear to.
