ICOM GPS lead

Hi all

I was looking why my Icom VHF radio did not respond to DSC and found it has not been wired in! ohmy.gif

Ok I thought no problem there, except when I found the manual it said I need a lead with a jack plug on it! dry.gif

I know it should have come with the radio but I bought the boat with the radio so no lead available. sad.gif

Where is the best place around Poole to get one of the leads, does anyone know who stocks Icom spares?

Thanks in advance

Coddy

Hi Coddy,

I have used Waters & Stanton PLC for ICOM spares and they are quick to deliver. Go to www.wsplc.com and select 'marine band' from the product menu and then follow your nose. Phoning them up should help if you draw a blank.

Hi Coddy

When you say it's not wired up for DSC I assume you mean the nmea cable that links to your GPS??? The cable is needed to feed the GPS coordinates into the radio. There should be two black wires hanging out the back of the VHF for this.

Go to Maplins next to B&Q in Poole and buy on of their connectors to suit.

hi Dave what Icom do you have and does it have the two wires out of it at the back with the small jack plug sockets on?

One is for the extension speaker and the other for the nmea lead.

If it does I may have a spare here, and nearly certain to have one at work somewhere.

If you have the socket I will have a better look
