Not to be outdone by Adam's novelty with cod lures ... and noting the lack of success with the 'banana lure'.....Rob set about making an artificial banan skin lure using an old rubber glove from the bin. Cable-tied to a cheap leadhead hook [6 for

This all stemed from when I repaired some maccy feather shiny bits with some strips of Doritos (cheese) packet strips! Alun found them quite amusing. Therefore I thought I would make a BIGGER version for the cod.

I made a couple with a foil based NicNak packet (Scampi and lemon) and these looked good and then thinking that brittle stars were bright yellow (though now I know they are more dull orange\brown) what could I use that was yellow and tough! Argh - old gardening marigolds in the garage - hey presto!

And yes after one of my lure being destroyed by a cod I had just eaten a crunchie and proceed to catch on it! (be careful of you do this yourself as some wrappers may contain nuts!).

I will get some pics of the lures on the site so you guys can make your own!!!

Would liek to say that they attracted a better stamp of fish and left Alun and Mike to catch the throw backs!

Also after the tide really picked up I changed to a low drag rubber worm and had nothing!

Nice one guys

Maybe the winter codding will never be the same again

we are all getting so confident that the cod are around that its a comp to see who catches one on the wierdest lure laugh.gif

Hard to believe that serious anglers are steaming 20 plus miles out to try and not catch fish, but I saw it the other week with Adams banana peel on a leadhead tongue.gif
