Well as the weather had been hit and miss, i decided to spend the weekend carp fishing on a lake in the new forest with lewis (my 7 year old) and my dad.

Anyway, i know most are not interested, but i'l post for the few who i know are keen on freshwater fishing.

The 48hour session was a flier anyway, with over 50 carp between the 3 of us up to 25lb+ mixed in big roach getting on to 3lb and some decent bream.

It was great watching my son landing his first good carp aswel, and he finished with 6 of them, mixed in woth some smaller species.

Dom popped up on the way from work just for a beer and grabbed a tiny 5ft telescopic rod from the car that he had in there from his fishing on a tiny 6ft wide brook that runs through the forest and promptly landed a nice fish on a dog biscuit.

Plenty of pics below of some of the good fish, with a mix of commons, mirrors, fully scaled mirrorr and a nice half linier mirror.

Sounds like a great weekend Dan - well done.

Any pictures of the roach? My target for the year is a 2 pounder but have not got close yet! Having another go on the River Stour this evening.

That's a cracker Dan - well done.

I'm just off for a go on the Stour at Sturminster - hope I find one even half that size. Either way it will be good to get out and will beat staring at the sea hoping the waves will die down!!
