Coddy
Hi Just in case people are looking at the winch cable as part of the yearly maintenance checks, you do these don't you? Please be aware of the dangers of using wire cable. By far the safest are the straps, if a cable breaks under load it may well come back at you and could decapitate you or do some major damage to you or anyone around you! A strap might give you a slap but that is better than loosing a limb or your life. Wire and straps should be replaced when any signs of fraying or cable damage and I would suggest every 3 years or before. Don't forget a spot of grease on the snap clip hook on the end of the strap/cable to ensure it can't come off. As many know I am involved in lifting disabled people and we replace lift tapes every 2yrs or before if showing ANY damage. Perhaps you can tell I am on a Health & Safety course this week!
