Manic Moore
Well Paul Stapleton kindly agreed to crew on Enticer and we set out from baiter about 7.30am heading for the 50 50 banks joining up with Richard on Zara at the ferry and a flat cruise out. Absolutely no tide but we anchored and as the little that flowed slowely pulled us into the bank. Well after a couple of hours of small talk, tea and bacon & egg rolls, we decided if we were going to make the trip worthwhile we would nip out to a wreck and give the congers a go. 5 miles later we found our mark, a few drifts later we had a few pout in the bucket for fresh bait and a first attempt to anchor quite a small target as this wreck lies along the tide. Despite all our drifts going absolutely east to west, as soon as we put the hook in a few degrees of north slipped in and we settled on what must have been the far north side of the wreck. It didn't take long for the grey one to find our baits and the 30lb fish on the boat. Next, Pauls self confessed "many years since I fished for conger" knots parted company and the first of many fish on the day went back to its rusty home. Another fish for me and then a big grin from Paul as we slipped the net under a nice 30lb fish. Another one to me and then the bites died off. We had another 2 attempts to get on the wreck and in desperation got a bit greedy, got too close and spent the next hour or so filling the wreck up with tackle. Note to self: email web sight to update their details on the new wieght of the wreck. Finaly, what was obviously the best fish of the day took Paul back into the wreck and added still further to the wreck size. Well not a bad day, 4 good congers all around the 30lb mark but at least another 6 got back into the wreck. Lovely calm day, albeit a bit murky, and good company. Regards Gordon Paul into his first conger for a while Edited November 8, 2008 by Manic Moore

Paul D
Loved the "E-mail web site on new weight of wreck" - lol What cracking conditions. We had somewhat rougher conditions on Friday.
