Bream on
A freezing cold morning and the pontoon like a skating rink signalled a chilly run out to the Needles. The run out looked quite promising until we got to the Clan, with the Northerly over the flood it put the spray over the bow! Not having fished that area for Cod before I was not to sure of the mar , until I saw Alun on Gastronaught with a nice plump Cod of about 13lb . This was the mark ! After about 15 minutes one of the rods was nodding . Lifting into it the rod took on a nice bend ,followed by rod 2 nodding nicely . After 7-8 minutes 2 nice plump Codling of 9lb & 7lb were on the deck . What a start ! Action followed steadily with an 8lb 8oz , 13lber ,7lb 8oz , 6lber all on the flood. As the ebb started another 7lber found the net , then a quick dash back for the School run on a calm sea, made for a great days fishing. The 13lber had a fresh wound to his head. I don't think it was the lead beating it around the head , but I thought possibly a squid due to the single entry point !Any thoughts on this ?
