JIMBOB
Just got back from one the calmist fishing days ive ever had!.. not a ripple all day As it was so calm the plan was to head out for the tope over the back of the wight for the slack,so it was of to Xray to fish the tide down and the fish were waiting and I was soon in to the rays 2 small eyes going 9lb and 9lb 12oz... and oddly very few doggys,(I think Alun caught them all yesterday! ) Then the long steam to the tope grounds......... 8 miles away!! The tope were there but only small ones the biggest went 12lb managed to bag about 30ish. I also manged a huge doggy I even weighed it 3lb 6 oz! Then it was back to xray when the tide got up and bagged anouther ray, a thornback this time at 9lb, all in all a cracking day Summers back! Paul D
Just went to lookup your dogfish to see if a club record and found I have missed the page from the menu bar. Anyhow, now I have found the page Records It would appear you have a potential club record dogfish on your hands ??

great white
hi James Sounds like you had another good day and for the second time this month one of Gary's Club records have been broken your LSD beats the existing by 2oz. I was out last night Due to the lack of wind one day of a dinghy world championship being held at work was cancelled yesterday. So I took advantage of finishing work at my normal time and went out after work Once I passed Durlstone there was a breeze but not too much. I was alone so I used the chance to check out some numbers I have been given. 1st wreck came straight up no problem but a dive boat arrived before I had the anchor down , I decided not to make a fuss this time and to leave them to a dive and move to the other numbers 1/2 mile away. Sods law, I could not find that one. Anchored a bank that was very close and had dogs to 2lb 13oz The dive boat took the time to pass me as he came in to thank me for moving which was nice. I then decided that I would try the wreck anyway on the ebb tide In the middle of the tide just at dark I hooked a big eel It was the hardest fight I have ever had with one [and I have caught my share] 40 mins later and after and a few dives back to the wreck it was just behind the boat on the surface. Then It got wrapped with the other rods braided line which cut the running leader and a 60lb plus eel went home. By then my arms and back were giving be some grief. Nice to play such a good fish and a shame that it did not get to the boat for weighing and a photo but such is the problem of single handed fishing with two rods It was nice to get a short trip in nice weather for a change. I will be going back to that wreck for hopefully another go at that eel soon Charlie
