Paul D
We are out on Silver Spray on Friday and just realised that I don't know where the charter boats depart from !! I assume it is Poole Quay ? Also where is the best place to park ?
codless
Anywhere from bottom of poole high st to the old poole pottery site,i dont think they will let you into fishermans dock,to get on.Parking i would try baiter or any of the multi storys near by i think its dear hay lane, take change with you drop gear off first. You should get a fry up at the bottom of the high st next to poole angling centre, take a football plenty of room on board for a game but you wont get time on this boat .Good luck. mickburder
I am going out on Silver Spray tomorrow to 'the banks' fishing for brill, turbot and plaice. On the way back using sandeels for bass and pollock. Is it worth me making up the rigs myself or is it best to use the skippers rigs? If I make up my own what do you guys suggest? thanks Mick
Neal
I would suggest that you take your own - but get the skipper to confirm that they will work ok. He makes his living getting people on to the marks and then catching the fish. Ask him what works - and take his advice. Neal
Newboy
Just use a slider with a short trace plus a few spoons for slacker tide, longer trace when tide picks up.
mickburder
Catch report from yesterday on Silver Spray = nowt, not even a bite. There were 9 of us on board, got to the shambles at about 9.30am, it was very busy with a lot of local boats with their nets out trawling for sandeels. Andy the skipper put out his net and 30mins later enough live bait for a spot of bassing later on. All the other boats had left by then, a sign perhaps?. Anyway we stayed and drifted for turbot and brill, none of us had a bite for nearly 5 hours. Could it be that all the earlier trawling had scared the fish away? On the way back to Poole we stoppped at 3 different bass marks, only one small bass was caught, and 2 mackerel between the 9 of us. Very dissapointed, hoped to learn a few things, all I learnt was don't forget the bloody suncream!
great white
Bad luck Mick They do say every day is a fishing day, but not every day is a catching day. Doubt that helps or the fact that the WSF trip reports from the banks were slow. better luck next trip mate Charlie
Rob
Bad luck - to be honest, that's fishing. If you want to learn get out and about on others members boats or take members out on yours! Rob
