Gnasher
caught whilst sat on a mooring pontoon among the boats, i was using a tiny size 2 aberdeen, small pieces of broken ragworm, and dangling the bait of the edge of the pontoon with a one oz bomb. I was catching tiny 4 inch schoolies that were swimming amongst the the masses of mullet. All of a sudded the rods nearly ripped out of my hand before 40 yards of line hammers from the reel. 20 mins later a jumbo starry smoothound is banked. It was hooked that far up river that a hound was the last thing i was thinking of catching, and it made a nice change to a 3oz schoolie and crabs effing jammy, but i'll post the pic later... great white
lol: effing jammy, but i'll post the pic later... Luck may have played a part in getting such a fish on your hook in that venue, but landing it takes skill Skills learnt whilst using light tackle. Probably from what I have read on your reports these were learnt in fresh water. Great fish, well done Dan Charlie

Paul D
i didn't plan taking scales as schoolie bashing was all that i had in mind Do they have scales ??? Got me tempted to ave a go for the smoothies when the weather improves. My favourite fishing spot is down that way.
Rob
Gents - if smoothies were the target down that way what bait works best? Squid? Hermit Crab? Peeler? (
Gnasher
um....no paul .....the weighing type! Rob....from the shore its peeler all the way mate, although from the boat squid works well....i have lots of mates who are competition anglers and there always down sowely/lepe/parkshore etc and they hammer them on crab.
