wotu2uk
Just got a Lowrance broadband fishfinder (HDS 7) to replace older gear, and wondering if anyone has recommendations as to location of transducer. Boat (Arvor 200) has a heavy keel, (does this cause shadow when in-hull mounting?) and shaft drive which causes disturbed water at transom. Any ideas? Mike Fox
You might want to try a block of plasticine moulded close to the centre line of the boat, and the transducer mounted firmly in that, as vertical as possible. I've done it in two of my boats, and as a temporary measure, it's lasted for years. Good luck! Mike
great white
Mike is on the button I have used bluetac as well. Make sure there are no air pockets Best position as far aft as you can get it just off the keel but not in an area wher the hull is at its thickest. Make sure its upright, to the boats running level. The instructions will say do it with the boat afloat, in fairly deep water and try in a few positions to get the best picture. compare the picture to what you would get with the tranducer direct in the water [hung over the side] I also had one stuck on this way for ages, but after testing on this boat, I epoxied mine to the inside of the hull. wotu2uk
sounds good Moa'ki Warrior (still with name of Mary Lou??) now on way to Poole after successful transfer to trailer by HUGE crane, after boat lift broke. I really hope that my luck changes with new name. btw, enormous crop of barnacles completely covering stainless steel prop, causing heavy shaft vibration. First time that the boat has moved since April, and it is FILTHY, but now that I can get to it, I will have it spruced up and shipshape in no time John Edited September 30, 2009 by wotu2uk
