great white Posted February 2, 2010 Report Share Posted February 2, 2010 If you are connecting the two batteries together as one to get 12 volts, and you connect the meter where the +ve and -ve from your busbar/switch are connected it will show the charge between the two domestic batteries. to check each battery, a monitor would have to be connected accoss the terminals of each. wotu2uk Posted February 2, 2010 Report Share Posted February 2, 2010 If the two house batteries are connected in parallel ( + TO +, - TO -), then a monitor will only read the state of both batteries together. To read a single battery of the pair, it would be necessary to have wiring that unlinks them, not an economically sensible method. Make sure that both house batteries are of the deep discharge type, often referred to as leisure batteries. Engine starter batteries dont need to be.
