Is anyone thinking of entering this competition/ looking for crew? I am happy to provide any help and advise as well as my experience if anyone is interested? Entered last year and it was a thoroughly enjoyable day as well as a successful one! If anyone is interested please let me know 😀 George

When is the competition? Depending on dates, I would be interested if there is a spot for me? George

I think we could have a strong chance in this competition if we have a strong TEAM (not individuals), as dad says, I think a selection process is a good idea and I would like to put my name forward to be considered for this selection. Perhapse something to be discussed Thursday? George

What an experience!! Before i start typing my post i just want to say a massive thank you for the messages and support you as a club have shown me, it has been hugely appreciated! So i went away on the 25th of September to go to Weymouth to have a few trips out with the england team (senior and U21) on some of the charter boats and i learned very quickly that it is like nothing I've ever seen before! Rods of 4m and fish coming in left right and center! My long herd preparation was quickly proving to be insufficient as my rigs one by one failed due to a lack of experience in the methods used to make them! I was given rigs that were made by more experienced hands and yet was still not connecting... After 2 days worth of coaching from the team i was starting to use the rigs correctly at last but still with little effect! Saturday was a day of rig making and was ling and hard! Sunday we needed more time on rigs but were on parade for the opening ceremony so it was a careful juggling act of time! Monday was an official practice day and i had a good day at sea and was left feeling confident! However, Tuesday arrived and i could not catch scoring fish for love nor money and lost my boat and was completely out classed by the other competitors. After a motivational speech or two from the team i went out on Wednesday a little less confident but determined to get a score that would be counted for the team especially after my score being dropped on the first day at a measly 11... I gave it my all and managed to go from 7th to 4th! I was ecstatic! I scored over double the previous day at 24 points! I was made even happier when i found that my score was counted for the team that day also! Then it was upon me, Friday, the final day of competition! I was quite relaxed judging by the immensity of the occasion and was talking during bait preparation time with newly found friends from different nations but as the lines went over my focus tightened and i appeared to have finally got the hang of my tackle! Fish were flowing in!! By the end of the day i had scored 40 points almost doubling my score again! sadly this only scored me 5th place on my boat and, after comparing scores at the end of the day, would have won some of my team mates boats!! After checking our scores from previous days we realized we had done it! we had a podium position!! We were neck and neck with the French and sadly came third overall to the amazing talent and teamwork that was the Italians and the French, but for a team that had been actually together for about a week, we had come together and achieved bronze at the world championships! An amazing achievement! I learned so much about different rigs, rods and reels and met anglers of the highest caliber and made so many new friends along the way that i hope to fish with in the future! This opened my eyes to a whole new way of fishing and i cant wait to explore deeper into the depths of knowledge that is available at international levels and i aspire to fish in the world championships again next year in Croatia!

So there's this little boy who is quietly walking home from school one day, as he's walking along the path, a man pulls up in a car and says, "little boy get in my car and I'll take you fishing!" The little boy looks at the man and firmly says, "No." He then continues walking. As he turns the corner, the man pulls up once again saying, "Little boy get in my car and I'll buy you a brand new rod and reel!" Once again the little boy looks at the man and replies "No. I'm not getting in your car!" He continues once again untill the man pulls up for a third time and says, "Little boy get in my car and I'll take you wrecking mid-channel!" The little boy, who is getting very frustrated at this point, turns round and says sternly, "Dad, you bourght the Smart car. You sit in it!!!" George

Hi all, Thank you for the kind words, I'm pleased that I have finally joined the 'big bass club' and even more pleased that it went back so strongly. Also, I have finally broken in my new kenzaki!! Regarding the pictures, I'm affraid that it will not be possible to submit them untill we return to the UK due to not having the correct camera cable onboard. Thanks again George
