Hi Dan, I look at XC weather and met inshore. met inshore giving slight or moderate and with a southerly wind could be exposed. I have a raider 18 which is a capable boat but dont fancy bobbing up and down all day at anchor. Steve

Hi all, Was going to head to the car park tomorrow but with winds not perfect and the thought of hauling the anchor in 100 feet of water in the cold i have decided afters an interesting report at the weekend to give dolphin sands ago. Being a large area i was hoping you chaps might be able to give me some pointers as to which location to fish at this time of year for cod, whiting. Thanks kindly Steve

Hi Johnnyb, flood tide meaning up to hw , ebb tide meaning down to lw. Buy your self a tidal atlas it is a great way of seeing how the tides work and at what state the tide is at which ever area you are fishing in around are region. As Alun has already said be very careful going in and out of run. see you tomorrow

Hi there, We will be going to the Needles launching Mudeford 7 - 7 30. There was quite alot of nice cod caught over there yesterday even close in but the larger fish were caught near bottom of ebb. Biggish tide over there tomorrow so may fish up to high water then go bassing for the ebb. look out for a raider 18 mate.

Hi all, We also bottomed out 2 weeks ago on the last weather window 1 hour before a 0.9 tide . it is always a gamble after a storm but keep well left of bouys on way out your normally ok until the last bouy which can easily catch you out.I might be wrong but i did not think they moved the bouys in the winter they were there only as a guide.

hi Gino, Your rigs and bait seem fine as that was what we were using.Needles cod is normaly hard work. We had 4 charter boats very close to us and did not see one fish come on board allday. keep putting in the hours and you will be rewarded eventually.

Thanks Nige I thought we would see you out there!!

hi all, my self and Big T decided to chance this weather window today thinking we would probably be inshore but on arriving at mudeford found conditions to be brilliant so off to carpark we went. Start fishing with a slight ripple on the water and the sun shining thinking perfect then even more so as my rod doubled over fish half way up and Tony ready with the net his rod doubles over so he drops the net and leaves me to struggle on my own. First cod onboard 20ib 10oz shortly followed by tonys another cod 21ib 6oz. Only another 10 minute wait and im in again and another cod on board this one the best of the day going 22ib 8oz it then went quiet and the anchor slipping with the weather worsening decide to head home. ps i have some photos if someone could kindly offer to put them on for me

My self and Big T WILL be making the most of this weather window. Launching at mudeford and heading straight for the carpark ,hoping it might be promising as boats have not been out and the need to use 10 kg of squid to make room in freezer for christmas goodies. Will report back after trip.

no mate we were at your stern

Well done nige! we watched you play and land the fish from the sea trooper in front of you my mates boat who is a club member Big T. When both of you had to grab the net i said to my mate thats got to be a 30.We then got back to fishing and my mate had one 17 lb i had no joy with the cod but had 2 2lb whiting on the cod rigs anyway a good start for our first cod trip.
