Hi tomo Is or was this invite open to newly joined members as am a total beginner and would of loved to of gone or go on any future trips to learn as much as possible about where and how to catch these spiky bars of silver?! It's a big sea out there!!

We stuck th crab just for the smoothies but next trip will have worm and squid baits out to see if a stingy thing arrives

16 smuts landed between 8-14lb 7 of which were doubles,. 3 lost and lots of weed. Tiring and wet but fun day so cheers for the advice lofty

That sounds a challenge if u get into one of those dustbin lids in a yak. Cheers for the info. Will see if the smuts are biting tomo.

Nice bit of sport had there! Am heading towards sowley one eve this week myself. How far down towards the boom were you fishing if you don't mind me asking? Fancy hooking a few smuts along with the chance of one of these big flat stingy things!

Hello all, Have just joined the forum as have been looking at other places for information and found this site to be very helpful and informative. I am recently new to boat fishing, having been more focused on the fish of the cypranid kind, but have recently taken on a boat and am looking for some general advice on marks for starting off. As with most fishing I know it is always a learning game and that comes with time and experience but would always welcome a few pointers, GPS marks, tips etc. On reading the forums certain places pop up with their own names but havent a clue where or what they are on about Such places as XRAY, sadler ledge, southbourne rough. Am launching out of christchurch and have all the relevant charts and electronic wizadry aboard, although still learning how it all works. Any advice on local marks worth wetting a line on for this up to now land lubber would be gratefully appreciated. Hope to see you all on the waves soon
