  1. No it's OK Martin, no need Just wanted to clear my name Cheers Nick
  2. For the benifit of the "Forum Members Only" on PBSBAC, this thread was moved because a club member thought I was fishing illegally in Christchurch Harbour using live bait ...... Without going into too much detail he was wrong..you are allowed to fish live bait. Davis Tackle will give you everything you need to have a go... great sport Thanks.... Nick
  3. Did I upset someone...???

Wanting to add a DSC Radio onboard Aquajak...do i need to take a course on DSC.? I took the VHF radio telephony ticket back in 1994 and my present radio is registered with Ofcom.. Any advice would be helpfull...save me trying to navigate round the Ofcom website... Cheers... Nick
  8. Well done for getting out Nige......hope you solve the engine problem Nick
  9. I'm guessing that your right handed and you drilled through your left hand index finger ..... same one as my Angle Grinder conflict.....that makes 2 of us...they say these things happen in 3's..... WARNING.....restrain from DIY this weekend...you could be next.... Nick
  10. Had a fight with an Angle Grinder on Thursday and lost... ..so Friday's weather window gave us a good chance to let my finger heel and get another Bass trip in...... Weather was very still with a flat sea and after a quick gathering of Mackeral we were fishing on our usual drifts. Cam was the first to catch with a Small fish of about 3lb and a short while later a Squid of about 2 foot long. We then started to catch a steady stream of Cuttlefish....at one point I had 2 wrapped round my bait with another one underneath......lovely big Cod baits... Charlie boated the biggest Bass of the day with a 5lb 8oz...well done mate After a move up on the shallower parts of the Ledge, we found our selfs sharing a drift with Alun on Gastronought.....here I managed a 3 and a half pounder on the freeline... Great day out.... did my finger the world of good.... Nick
  11. Hummingbird uses one Tranducer for the lot....if it's Hummingbird you have, looking at the pictures it should go ok just inside one of the tabs.....but the only concern would be prop wash.......I went through this back in Febuary, I ended up buying a through hull and fitted it on the lowest part to the boat...it was the only way without buying 2 of them at nearly
  12. Off the mooring at 6.30 with Cam, Charlie and Si as crew and out to our banker mark for the Maccy......an hour later, 4 fish in the live well.... Off in the distance we saw this white flash as Wishing Too came skipping past...a quick chat with Nige who told us he had bagged up at Hengistbury...knew i should of gone there first... but instead we took a chance on Sun Corner and bingo a full well in 20 mins..... The tide was taking it's time to swing so we had a poodle around the Bridge taking a look with the side scan....that is some piece of ground, totally different from what we thought it looked like.... Eventually the tide began to flow and we started to fish....first drift 2 Bass, then another on the next, this was starting to feel good... The days weather was up and down with some ee'rie fog banks engulfing us. But all in all a great day afloat...total, 16 Bass with an average stamp of 5 to 7 lb..... a couple each for the pot and the rest returned. Happy days..... Nick
  13. I must admit Nige when we spoke on the radio I thought you meant "The Shingles"..... Fair play though mate, thats one hell of an inshore round trip... Nick
  14. Lol...Had an encouter with a large Squid last year......latched on to a Mackeral being used as a live bait....everytime it came to the net it let go.....down time after time, same result...in the end we knew it was timing the release just as the net got to within a foot of him, on the last attempt Charlie moved to the back of the boat and started waving his arms as a distraction..hid under the gunnel I quickly jumed up and netted it before it could get away.......That Squid caught me a 16lb Cod in the winter......worth the effort..... Nick
  15. Out again today with Mandy to make the most of her day off.....put the hook in again on the flood to try for a Bream.......we were the only one's on the ledge for an hour or so then a few more boats started to arrive... We ground baited, fished Maccy, Squid and worm and started to catch the usual Ledge inhabitants...Dogfish, Wrasse, Pout and finally a couple of decent Bream.. As the slack came I just had to have another go for a Bass... our bonus 6lb'er the other day had given me the bug Instant live baits on the mark gave us a good start to our drifts.....As the day went on the sea breezes got up very quickly......that hot air on land with the sea still cold, pushed it up to force 4 or 5....."just one more drift then before we go in" were the words, as my 12' Avon tip keeled over....moments later this was netted...... 11lb 12oz......Double bonus..... Nick
