  1. Plasticine works well too, and lets you try several positions until you find one that works for your hull shape. Mike
  2. Had something massive hit a bait last November on Court Jester, and even full drag on an Avet XS couldn't slow it. Neal also had Dogfish Dave onboard who was spooled on 300m of 50lb braid in a single run of about 2 minutes. They are out there! Mike
  3. Friday night looking good, but Saturday looks really unpleasant now, with Sunday windy, and next week very unsettled. Shame that good spell seems to have gone totally. Good luck with weather and fish! Mike
  4. Nothing to report from aboard Frisky Fox The worms died, and after the SE 4-5 on Saturday, we didn't sally forth in the end. Mike

  6. Would love to Neal, but am helping with the RNLI Life Jacket clinic at Cobb's Quay, which is open to all. If any club members aren't on the water, and would like to pop over for a chat, please do so. Mike
  7. Well done on the hound and bass! We fished the inshore banks yesterday, and the early wind against tide, and swell later made it tricky standing. The number of charter boats there confirmed it was worse further out, beyond the lee of St. Catherines. Found the fishing poor still, with one wrasse, a single whiting, a small dab, one doggy, but a bucketload of smallish mackerel to tiny feathers. They're still feeding on plankton - the small fry prey have been impacted by the cold spring I suspect. Poole Bay and Harbour seems to have loads of rotting dark brown weed clogging everything up, and it was hard going. The wind shifted firmly SE after noon, and the swell increased to over 4'...so we left before it got worse. Mike
  8. Have a great one Charlie! Mike
  9. I struggled as well with these Steve, and now used a "modified allbright" which is fairly quick, has the simplicity of a doubled-over blood knot, and doesn't slip. It's a bit bulky, depending on the diameter of your rubbing leader. Happy to show you if you like, but you can decide for yourself. Mike
