When I did my apprenticeship with “Southern gas” we had to take turns with one of those beasts. It was the size of a hand luggage bag ! Thing is nobody wanted to take it as we all quickly realised that whom ever had it was the busiest that day. The office could get hold of you !!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Lol, still don’t think I’d be man enough to tackle them !! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Depending on dates, I would like to put myself up for crew/ballast duties !?! A short Friday to Sunday ?? I’ve decided it’s all a bit too much for me to take my own boat ! I also understand that regulars will take first dibs , so no hard feelings if I’m overlooked ☹️ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ok, so my maths calculation was total incorrect, what a dullard. So 88 nautical miles will take about 32 gallons of petrol (about 150 litres). That’s approx £200 both ways. Then add a bit more so £500 on fuel. It’s a lot better than my first attempt at working it out but still pricey. Will have to think long and hard ! And maybe engage my brain properly before I think again in public !! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hang on, I think I’ve got that all wrong !!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Oh yeah, and I don’t have a crew member to share the cost ! [emoji22] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I think I have this correct but please pull me up if not ... 140 litres = 30 gallons Fuel consumption at 20knotts/3800 revs = 2.7 mpg 2.7mpg x 30 gallons = 61.4 gallons 61.4 gallons = 280ish litres 280 x £1.30 (per litres) = £364 then x 2 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Rob I'm working on worst case scenario ie, 2 mpg. I think 3 is doable but have to air on caution. plus I have to come from Southampton so that adds another 15\20 miles or so before I even reach the Needles !!
-
Yes but if I did that I would end using around 560 litres of fuel.........@ £1.30 a litre that’s £728 just on fuel !!!! OUCH Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

By my calculations I would run dry 60 miles into the trip !!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I will look into it but, think it may work out way too expensive. What with a week off work as well !! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hi guys and gals This is nothing to do with boats or fishing so turn away now if you wish. For those that may still be with me, do any of you have a VW T5 with a rear tail gate spoiler ?? If you do, do you have a bike rack fitted to it ?? If you do, which one do you use.? I’m finding it a bit hard to find one that will fit my VW (I need the Mrs to cycle of her Christmas pudding (oh yeah and mine)). Then why do I need a bike rack if I’m going cycling I hear you all ask .................(shhhh)!! Well my son is only 6 so I need to transport him and the 3 bikes we intend to punish ourselves on!! Any help gratefully received! [emoji1338]♂️[emoji512][emoji507][emoji897][emoji481] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
