Good skills Trev, always nice to have a mixed bag. Regards Rup

Its a shame that an individual that has engineered such a prominent position for himself in the angling world should be such a baffoon.Keith Arthur is one of those idiots that opens his mouth before fully engaging brains, you only have to watch the way that he speaks to his guests on Tight Lines to realise what an arrogant twat he is,he always speaks over them. The way the Angling Trust has responded will surely leave Mr Arthur with a large helping of egg on his pompous face. Try Pebble Beach at Barton On Sea,the food and wine are complimented by excellent service. The sea food platter is epic.

Just to add one thing to this thread.Don't be afraid about leaving loads of hook showing, cod are not hook shy they are use to eating sharp food like hardback crabs, lobsters, clams, limpets etc.Give bites plenty of time to develope and don't strike, just take up the slack line and lift into the fish,if you don't hook it drop the bait straight back to the bottom and most times it will return.Good luck for the weekend it would be nice to see a club member with a right wacker(35lb plus),see you offshore Nige. Regards Rup

Well done Colin, what a fantastic fish to have as a first aboard the boat.Got to have a chance of top spot with a beauty like that. Rup

Good angling Dave,a nice brace of fish there,i bet the sea was pleasant today even better when the fish play as well. Rup

Well done Dave,a shame that ackward conditions made the fishing tricky.Unlucky Trev,it's frustrating when they come off for no apparent reason.Good luck to all on the cod comp,be lucky and stay safe. regards Rup

Good luck guys. Rob really is on top of the fish at the moment,we managed 5 cod today to 17ish,also a nice pollack and loads of big whiting. All methods worked for the cod,i had one about 17 downtiding about 100 yards back, also a 13 first cast on an uptider with the tide really strong.Scotty had 2 doubles fishing right under the boat as the tide eased,Dave had one downtiding with the tide fairly strong. The pollack came to feathers whilst Brian was whiting fishing. Have a good day regards Rup

No need to apologise Adam,i think you made the right call based on the weather forecast.Safety first has always been part of the club's ethos,it's no fun trying to fish on a rolling, pitching boat i think we all agree on that.

I woudnt dare comment on the area at poole because i dont travel over there, however the proposed area at the needles seems reasonable to me.Angling is only prohibited in a very small area,i think the idea has its merits in some areas.

Got a trip booked on Shogun with a few mates.Am looking forward to it now the weather has changed for the better.

Dan ive got more chance of catching a cod at Rockford than i have of catching a carp.I must try harder next year,i'll fluke one in the end. Rup

Best get the surfboards out,it aint going to be great for fishing.Time to dust off the fluff chucking gear methinks.

On Aquafresh we usually use 8/0 razor claw big bends, they are excellent and rarely fall out.Last weekend i ran out and used 8/0 o shaughnessy,i unfortunately lost two of the three cod i hooked.I now have replenished stocks of the razor claws, and would only expect to drop the odd badly hooked fish.

For you Tommy ze vorld cup ist over

Hi Dan,good to see you on the way back to proper fishing. You should find some action out there, good chance of a spikey or two on that bit of ground, best of luck mate ill look forward to your report. Best regards Rup

Charlie You are spot on with your post,Aquafresh regularly visits the rips however there have also been several occasions that we have changed our plans on the way there. It is supposed to be fun,and fishing out there in a 4/5 wind against tide isnt in our boat so it wont be any better for other small boats. The fuel issue is not an issue for Aquafresh, but crawling home at 9/10 knots would have compromised us in our Raider.Posts like this are why i value my membership,it is great to share safety ideas. For the record we use xcweather and that forecast suggests that there will be more comfortable weekends to visit the rips than this one,the bass are in though. That smile on Sam`s face sums up what fishing should be all about, well done nipper Rup

There was definitely 2 there they weighed 2 12 and 1 15,was a proper struggle though

Oysterboat i agree with you.I saw many cars in the hedge, fields etc and all through driving too fast. Was even overtaken by one that subsequently went hedgewards, tosser?,absolutely.Dont particularly want my staff driving my vehicles in these conditions,a recipe for disaster. What next?will we be tossers for not going out in a force 7 south westerly?definitely if we take a flask it would seem.

Great job guys Hope you have as much fun with her as we do with Aquafresh Rup

Merry xmas Probably not if you were the one that had just taken off the glitzy, silver bacofoil jacket.

If we held the mini species comp before the bass comp we could save a lot of time bait catching.Seriously though Mike, the guys you were fishing against are good mates of mine, ive known Ed for 25 years and they have been doing that as long as i can remember. They are also accomplished specimen hunters, this they have also practiced for a long time. They spend a lot of hours planning their match including working out their likely points score depending on which boat they are on.For the club to shine in this sort of event the level of practice is beyond what most individuals can justify so i wish you good luck. They totalled nearly 200 miles just getting the bait to catch what we use as bait. One last question, what size hook is required for the black goby?.
