Charlie What you see on his programs is the product of adrenalin, excitement and relief. The quarry doesnt know that its on telly and can often be less than obliging when a camera crew clump around spooking everything in sight. The laughter is nervous energy.I have spent a few days fishing with John away from the cameras and he is great company and very interesting to talk to with a wicked sense of humour, just the same as most of us i suspect. Congratulations guys I hope you get as much enjoyment from your new boat as i get from Aquafresh. You wont be disappointed once you get her in the water, they are great fun flat out,but will also be a revelation in a lumpy sea.Loads of deck space for equipment and of course big live bait tank to help plunder those late season bass shoals. Good luck with the build, cant wait to see her on the water Rup

On Aquafresh we have a swim platform that the tank sits on.The tank is a round blue plastic 45 gallon drum. The outlet is two thirds of the way up the tank and drains straight into the sea.The inlet is at the bottom of the tank and is made out of 1 inch diameter pipe fittings,a 90 degree angle bend turns in an anticlockwise direction creating a flow that mackerel will happily swim into.We have 2 jabsco high output pumps fitted with through hull skin fittings, these are piped with flexible 1 inch pipes,1 goes to the live-tank the other to the deckwash. When mackerel are scarce the deckwash jet can be sprayed on the water to attract themThe pipes can all be swapped around in case of a breakdown. We run our pump constantly to maintain optimum conditions for the bait. The batteries will be charged when you run up for another drift, however the battery drain is not significant with the set up we have which comprises 2 batteries for the electricals and 1 for cranking the engine.Under no circumstances should any obstructions be in the tank, bait will die quickly if not free to swim.Between drifts drop your hookbait into a bucket of water,1 per angler it saves tangles. It shows no respect to the skipper not to be ready to fish the instant the boat stops,it sounds obvious but you cant catch if your tangled.Never put bleeding baits into the live-tank it will kill the rest.If bait is scarce use the damaged baits as dead baits. We can happily keep 40 baits with the set up we use.For smaller boats keep the principles the same and you will enjoy success with smaller tanks.Mates of ours on a Raider use a 100 litre tank rigged the same way and can keep 20 or so baits very happily. We are very keen on our bass fishing so have have learnt to be keen on bait care.I hope some of this waffle is useful to someone coz my typing finger is knackered

Adam, Nice one mate glad you had a good day,you did better than us.After seeing a dolphin first thing in the morning we would have been better off going straight home.Still it was a great day for blasting around the English Channel at 30 knots.Look forward to seeing you out after the bass coz if the kids like bream fishing they are going to love bassing. Dan in that area try for mackerel around the sconce bouy. Can usually get them there, though sometimes a struggle 1 hour either side of low water. If going there around low water get bait at Needles or in the bay around north head bouy to the white house at Milford.Dead mackerel also catch either as flappers or fished whole.

Dan,i have always thought that episode was worthy of critical acclaim,ha ha I have always enjoyed reading the catch reports,it is nice to appreciate the successes of fellow club members. My point is that for competition to be healthy the less successful have to be magnanimous in defeat.I dont go fishing to catch more than others,i go because it lets me escape from the pressure of everyday life.Bass fishing is my favourite because they are the nearest to sport fish we have in this country and we can fish for them most of the time without layers of survival gear topped off with an uncomfortabe flotation suit.Roll on winter cod season not.

Having read all the recent comments about Bass fishing it is quite obvious what an emotive subject it is.Everyone could do with remembering that fishing is a hobby! My motivation for going fishing is to forget about work and spend quality time with friends trying to catch whatever the target species may be on any given day.On Aquafresh we view any successes as a team achievement and some of my most treasured memories are the looks of joy on the faces of friends and family as they pose for the trophy photo. From the look of some of the comments some people may have forgotten the fun part.On Aquafresh we have learnt how to catch Bass by trolling, pirk and feathers(catch hundreds like this if you really want to),dragging leads(live or deadbait)'floatfishing(live or deadbaits),bottom fishing at anchor(live or deadbaits)etc etc etc.All methods catch loads of fish we enjoy floatfishing in shallow water not because it is the best way to catch Bass all the time, but because it is fun.Dont bring competition into pleasure fishing all you end up with are losers, its one of the reasons i packed up coarse fishing.Good luck everyone fishing should be to you whatever you want it to be.
