    Lowrance LMS-520C

your choice is between the Navionics and the Nautipath I have both (on different Lowrance plotters) on Phaeton generally the navionics have more contour lines marked in areas such as the rips and I believe the latest Navionics (platinum?) have quite comprehensive tides etc prices are now pretty reasonable and you can get an XL covering pretty much the whole of the UK. The Nautipath will cover half of Europe!
  2. sorry to hear about your warp = but I can understand it having had a few rays on the hook that seemed to be fish of a lifetime material (as was a tail wrapped huss once too) look forward to the cod thanks for posting
  3. can't fish this one but good luck to those who do my seaweed has it ene 6 knots at 0600h going round to ssw 7 knots by 1600h in and around the Poole Bay area
  4. Posted by Chris Caines on Sat Dec 22 00:19:23 2007 As promised, I said I would post info on todays meeting with SSFC
  5. Neal, Paul J won the previous year - but put a little more effort into it than your mate; never stopped preparing his baits all day long!
  6. Ah it's on the 30th this year is it? Normally the 28th or am I confusing it with another Poole Cod Comp? Are there 2? Can you guarantee a F1-2 NW? I am never never fishing for flounders again............ boat fishing in 2ft of water isn't boat fishing!
  7. will send through some more shots in due course Paul - haven't had time to sort through them yet though.
  8. sent one to that address Paul - please confirm receipt ta
  9. Early cry off here.............. wtf's a flounder???????
  10. firstly my apologies to everyone for not being able to make the evening; is it just me or have I have a 'domestic' call everytime I have been out fishing this year? I would like to echo the others comments re the overall organisation of this event - a huge thumbs up for the efforts put in my all and of course PJ represents the team here in success and failure! I would also like to thank my crew member for actuallly catching a fish - which enabled at least one photo on the day. That it went back was testament to it's size! Wishing everyone a great family Christmas and looking forward to better weather and trips in 2008
  11. fishing? - I thought we were all dashing round the harbour taking photographs Phaeton will be out and about if Dave feels up to it.....
  12. yep - I have due East 13 knots for the next 4 days solid in Poole Bay; not unknown conditions but it may well be more comfortable out of the harbout from 1300h...... life was never easy having only ever caught 1 flounder in my life - by accident - this looks challenging for me!
  13. Martin - please put me down for
  14. me to especially if it could be collected at sign on - this would be perfect!
  15. looks a lot more sheltered than Rockley in a W9 is.............
  16. Optio has SD card which is better, and the image quality was better than the 720/770 range but the 790 is a lot better
  17. ??? I think you are mistaken Bob - mine has a metal sutter that closes over the lens when the camera is switched off. In addition the lens is sufficently recessed (and small) to be better protected than my DSL lenses with their hoods. Finally we have never wiped the lens, and never had any distortion effects either - but we do give it a rinse off under the tap and a good shake after UW trips in salt water. Above is 720SW (same as the 725/730/770) and I believe will apply equally to 790SW although the body has small changes in construction as well as updated software.
  18. Terry The 790SW is an excellent toughie, and a lot better image quality than the 720/730/770SW range it replaces. I have been using a 720SW for some time, including underwater and literally chucked around in the cockpit. Yes there are better picture quality cameras in the proce range, and yep the XD picture card memory isn't as good as SD cards but you get a seriously tough camera and stick a slick skin on it for the extra protection. I can't lend you the 720 to try as it has gone with Josh in his backpack for 6 months in Aus and NZ. and that's a good deal on it..........
  19. yes Yom - well it was pretty bad anyway and Phaeton got a bit of damage..... this year she was moved - just the rail damage from last year to fix now.
  20. what a surprise...............
  21. can't understand this weather thing - OK this was a whole 5 days ago but looking at the next 5 days it will be a faint memory before we see the likes again!
  22. early call is helpfull - clearly disappointing givne all the arrangements by the committee and individuals having sold thier souls for the fishing time too.........guess I had better go and look at the jobs list again - for some reason 'postponed' doesn;t automatically carry over the permission!
  23. done - i will edit my photo's too Paul can I make a suggestion Paul - change the default from saving a copy of outgoing messages; I try to remember not to each time but they slip through!
  24. yep - my grib service is giving similar added factor will be 0 visibility for a few hours around midday as well on Sunday due to the heavy rain and wind. the boatyard have agreed to move Phaeton somewhere safer......
  25. agree the principle Paul - at the risk of repeating myself if you are petitioning then exactly what are you petitioning for? no limit at all on the size of rod and line angling boats?
