    Holding Bottom

Currently using a "Danforth" anchor that the boat came with, anchor is connected to a chain, shackle and 150ft of rope. Wonder if I should be looking at a different style of Anchor for our local fishing. As Terry said should i look at a "Bruce" style anchor?

    Holding Bottom

Hi Rob, Yeah it was the anchor not holding, not had trouble there before. Will try letting more rope next time and see if that helps

    Holding Bottom

Good morning all, After some advice or simple words of wisdom with regards to anchor holding bottom. Ventured out yesterday with a friend with a little trepidation due to the strengthening souwesterly. The trip down through the harbour was a little rougher than normal but surprisingly when we went through the entrance the sea state wasn't to bad so we ventured on out and went in search of some rays. got to the mark easy enough and dropped anchor but we simply couldn't hold bottom, fished this mark a few times now and never had trouble holding, I put it down to the wind pushing the boat. Are there any solutions anyone can throw my way or is it simple inevitable that wind will push the boat? Thanks Dale

  5. I think i did, not submitted one before.
  6. Got out Sunday for a quick session trying to avoid the weather, couldn’t stay out too long as tides were against me (my boat sits on mud at low tide). managed to find a few mackeral for bait and was hoping for more Tope but my anchor rope wasn’t long enough (fishing in 85ft of water) so couldn’t hold bottom. Moved to more forgiving shallower ground and netted a few. still, fun was had 😉👍🏻
  7. I wonder if that was the same G&T guzzling T@&T that decided to plough past me at about 25 yards whilst I was out my hatch pulling the anchor up!! Like you say the whole ocean and they feel the need to scrape past you!! Sure they all have a giggle when they see us holding on for dear life!!

    Navionics App

I have some knowledge, know a couple of marks to drift for plaice and a couple of bream marks, I’d like some marks for Rays, Tope, smuts, ect. Will have a good mooch about when the wind allows and see what I can find. had a boat years ago and finding my feet again. I’ve got a couple of good friends in the club that have already offered to share some marks with me which is great. Already bribed one with some venison 😉

    Navionics App

Good afternoon All, fairly new member, joined the club last year and renewed membership this year. Attended my 1st meeting on Tuesday (I was the one who turned up late!!) I have an Orkney 520 and looking to get out as much as possible this year. Have limited knowledge of any marks so have downloaded the “Navionics” app hoping to pick up a few marks for different species. Have a Garmin finder/plotter that’s suppose to work well with the Navionics app. Do any member have any experience of the app that can offer any guidance? appreciate any help or assistance however small you think it might be. thanks in advance Dale boat is called “Canaletto” if you see me about!!
