  1. Wow! Great result Steve.
  2. The cable rods Graham lent me sorted the problem in about 30 seconds. a complete game changer. Amazing! I spent many hours attempting the same job with a similar flexible 3m rod made of glass fibre and got nowhere. MAny thanks Graham.

    Honda Service

Thanks Jim, I'll contact him. Have also messaged Neil Ceconi https://www.facebook.com/NJCAutoMarine/ who is also mobile. I'm more than competent at mechanics and have already sorted faulty wiring to the bilge pump and installed Plotter with NMEA 2000 network. I'm old school I suppose and still believe that if you want a job done properly, do it yourself. I'm really just tick boxing for the warranty. Pete.

    Honda Service

First 20 hour service sorted by the dealer up in York. Only the gear oil is every 6 months and I now see it does state 'whichever comes first'. Blimey! Surprisingly, the warranty booklet stipulates that you can do the service as long as you have the proper tools and mechanically proficient. Mmm. Pete.

..I notice the engine manual serivice info says oil change...etc every 6 months or 100 hours. Realy, every 6 months! Perhaps someone can confirm if 6 months applies or 100 hours for the warranty please.

    Honda Service

Greetings! My Honda BF50 outboard is approaching one year old (only 45 hours) and needs a service to maintain the warranty. I live near Swanage, so hope not to have to tow it far. I've not done this before, as new to the area, can anyone offer suggestions ? At the moment I see there is Golden Arrow in Salterns Marina, Poole who sort Hondas. A bit frustration as I am an engineer and always did everything on my cars. Ta, Pete.
  7. Hi Graham. Thanks for the offer and yes, I would like to borrow one of those 'rods' you use. I'm not in Poole often, so if your still willing, I'll try and sort next time I come over from Swanage. Ta, Pete.
  8. These alternative options look promising. Thanks for the feedback folks. I'll give it a shot and let you know how it works out..
  9. Greetings. Any help appreciated with this. The 'conduit' under the floor of my Highfield 460, between the console and transom, is already busy with wiring. Now I need to get one more wire for a sonar transducer pulled through. Last time I was successful and used a long flexible plastic rod (for Roman Blinds) to do the job. I broke the rod attempting to pull through this last cable. Does anyone know where I can get some more of this curtain rod or is there something similar? My first post here and open to suggestions. Ta, Pete (Wombat).

Great advice about the anchor. Have only used it in sand but with do the thing with the cable tie from now on.

That's my rib. I did try and post a pic of it. Let's have another go.. Cool it worked this time. Very happy with the boat. Have done about 45 hours on it so far.

    I've joined!

Greetings! I attended last nights meeting in Poole and joined the club. New to using a boat on the sea (2022 Highfield CL460) and new to fishing I am looking forward to exploring the coast and learning loads. I also passed the VHF and powerboat course last year. During the winter I installed a Garmin Echomap SV75, NMEA 2000 network through to the Honda outboard. A chirp transducer is on the way soon hopefully. Perhaps I need a local Honda outboard (BF50) service agent. Perhaps a mobile engineer. I am keen to keep running costs down and hope to service the outboard myself, while keeping the warranty going. The Rib was bought miles away in York. That was a fun trip towing it back here! Ta, Pete.
