  1. Also looks similar to an Islander 21 - which I believe were built on the Isle of Wight until the mid 70's. If you go to the bottom of Turks Lane in Poole - find your way down to the Sea Scout's building - next to what used to be Lathams Booatyard - you may find a number of the Parkstone Bay boats on the hardstanding, together with a number of knowledgeable people who own them. May not be of benefit to stick a bigger engine in the boat - they have a displacement hull which may limit the top speed anyway. Mine was 6 Knots - so takes a long time to get anywhere unless you go with the tide! Good Luck with the project! Neal

    Birmingham Navy!

Not just Ribs, bloody great sunseekers, speedboats, jet skis - the whole bloody lot of inconsiderate bastards! The looks of utter contempt on some of the faces when "politely suggesting" the slow down - unbelievable! Tossers. Needs a large buoyed off area - NO WAKE ZONE - and enforced like they do in the States, with hefty fines!
  6. Well done Carol I know you have put a lot of effort in to find an Undulate - well done and a specimen one is always a bonus! Neal

  14. It is a separate comp - just for fun. Put in in case the last one was cancelled. Plus an opportunity for people to boost their species count. Neal
  15. As mentioned during recent Club Meetings, I was asked to take Dave Lewis of Sea Angler Magazine out to photograph the Police National Boat Championships - which this year took place in Poole. 18 Charter boats were used with 8 Anglers to a boat - to fish a species hunt. 2 Club members representing their regional police forces were amongst the 144 competitors. The brief was to photograph the boats as they were leaving - with the backdrop of Brownsea Castle chosen for the boat pictures. We then followed the fleet out to take action shots of the Competitors hauling in their fish. I was also asked to take out the Chairman of the Police Angling Sports Federation (something like that anyway!) The Chief Constable of the Northumberland Police - who at some point would like to fish as well! We all met up on the Quay - Dave Lewis took a few shots of the competitors assembling and the organised chaos of loading and sending out 18 boats! - and then jumped on my Boat. Dave Lewis then announced that he was also writing a series of articles about small boat angling around the coast - to be published in the Sea Angler and so could get a 2 for one on the day! and started clicking away with his camera. Bugger! no pressure here then!! We followed the boats out to Poole Patch - where the "tiddler snatching" started - not great action for the magazine....... Went out to the Sadler Banks - more of the same! Decided to go out to the 6 - mile Banks, where their was a bit more tide and the likely sight of some bigger fish being caught - no-one there! I explained (hoped!) that they would all come out later so we had time to find somewhere to drop anchor and fish for a while and hopefully catch something. Well, for once we were lucky - inevitable Dogs, plenty of mackerel, but also a good sized Small Eyed Ray, Tope, Smoothound, a bonus Brill and a Red Gurnard - unfortunately no Blonde Rays as I had hoped for and no Bream - but good enough (just!) Coming back in we found that all the boats had been really struggling to catch fish - so glad we did ok. The Met Police have donated a Rod for the Junior Comp as well as some cash from the organisers and Jim Campbell, the Chief Constable. The Club donated a baseball cap to both Dave Lewis (who has been invited to come down again and fish / film the open comp) and to Jim Campbell on the proviso that when they travel abroad and fish they send us a shot of them sporting our club Logo! Altogether a fantastic day, great weather - really good company and a massive opportunity to raise even further the profile of our wonderful club Neal

  19. It's time for round 2 of this years Species Competition However - following last weeks Cobbs Quay Species Hunt - a few might prefer not to bother. So this post is to guage interest! Given the on-going good weather I would like to see a few more of the Juniors being taken out - we currently have only one recording fish! Alternatively, we move the comp to the Christchurch end of the Bay to see if it is possible to get anywhere near the 15 - 20 Species caught in a single day, which can be achieved at the Poole end! Neal
