Quote...following a series of unbelievable happenstances I read somewhere that professional divers call these occurances 'Incident Pits' and that these domino affect deteriation of options are so common as to have their own official name. There is also something in Chaos mathamatics which proves there is a critical point with in a given circumstance at which things stand more chance of getting worse than of getting better. Mad Mike

Don't those women looked bored! Yes I can see why he needs those four engines. There's ....erm?...well what about ...hmm? ah it's .....? I know!!! Small penis!!!! Mad Mike

This is getting very predictable. Over the years selling cars I have heard every car under the sun (including Skodas) defended as a wise choice and superb value BY THOSE THAT OWN THEM irrespective of the facts of the market place. Only time will tell which type of engine will have the best resale value and help to sell a boat. Personally I think that 'what engine' is quite reliant on 'what boat'. A small light boat IMO would be more fun as Paul says with an immediate engine response and a quick shove out of the hole. Larger heavy semi planing hulls like the medium and larger sized wheel house craft need longer to gain inertia and trying to bump them on the plane by the brute force of 150 screaming 2 stroke horses is a bit gauche to say the least. A 4 strokes power curve is more suitable to this sort of craft. It is a case of horses for courses, not 2 V's 4 stroke. Mad Mike

He's a proffeshnial is our Tom Jokes apart, I and I am sure others too, find Toms impartial help on boat purchasing matters is invaluable. Mad Mike

A case of Av-gas will travel no doubt. Mad Mike

I think you need to state the boat. For the sake of argument Quicksilvers have a bad reputation for cracks and leaks. Also the price. Why have a survay on

Quote.... As the dried grease starts to wash out it will get easier to move. The VERY CAREFUL use of an electric hair drier on warm not hot helps to warm the cable and the waxy grease inside. Petrol does go off as the more volatile hydrocarbons evaporate. Don't waste it or cause polution by sticking it down the drain, mixed in with your car fuel it will be fine even with 2T oil in it. Having said that someone will undoubtedly scream foul with some esoteric reason why not, however I have done so at the end of each season for the last several million years and never had a problem. Over to you Mr Doubting Thomas Mad Mike

'professionally'; a dockyard worker! Yes indeed I roared with laughter at that! By the way is this 'advert' a pi55 take or is it for real? His given web site comes up as none existant. I would love to contact him as a buyer from hell!! Mad Mike

I got a very nice email from Google apologising for the origional error on their part ?????? And asking me to try a specific link that should cure the problem (a patch????). When I tried it, the download prog was very much more user friendly and clearer than before. Lets hope that the updated thingy (patch???) works for every one. Mad Mike PS I'll do most things Paul as long as I am asked nicely

I could be totaly wrong but somewhere in the back of my mind is the thought that unatended gill nets within harbours are illegal? Mad Mike

Unfortunately for those without PRIOR knowledge of the Firefox defaulting it's self and the expertise that you and some others have Paul the download causes havock. However having said that I sucessfully downloaded the pack last week and having been pre warned as it were I did not download the Fire fox and some other bits I did not want by un ticking the option boxes Mad Mike.
-
A word of warning ...The Google pack also instals 'Firefox' which is Googles web browser. the instalation tries to make Firefox your default browser instead of Internet Explorer. I had enourmous problems with Firefox and eventualy had to get Dell to send me all the reinstale discs. I dare say that the clever PC guys could sort it out themselves but as far as I am concerned $2 is no where near enough to make up for having a load of Google 5hit trying to take over my PC. Mad Mike

Mike F, Heaven forfend that I should upset you ..(I know you use the term tongue in cheek, but others appear to have real dislike of sailing boats) But I do really hate some of the pillocks!!! Why when they see a fishing boat at anchor in an empty vista of blue sea to the stupid bastados feel the need to cut right accross ones stern within 20 ft OR better still when you have trolling lines out. I know you as a fishing Sailor would never do that but there seem to be hundreds of sailors that use a stationary fishing boat as a turning mark! WHY!! Is it that some force majeure that afflict those that are wind bourn? Mad Mike PS this year armed with a catapult and a bucket of cockles!

Could someone explain their breaking strain range please? Mad Mike

Jack, Always always always get several quotes each year at renewall time NEVER automatically renew without searching the market. Your NCB is YOURS and is absolutely portable. Insurance companies rely on people like you who just renew. I would bet if you were to go to your existing company as a new prospective custome they would quote you several hundred pounds less than you currently pay. Getting Quotes on the Internet is the easiest thing in the world. Mad Mike

Wafi Wind assisted *uckin idiot Mad Mike

No you got it spot on with the method. let out lots of extra warp from the bow, wait till the boat settles then drop a stern anchor and let out warp as you gently haul back on the bow anchor. I used to do that on a particular flounder mark in Poole Harbour to make sure the boat didn't swing about. But I think it would be dodgy in the strong tides out side say the Whitehouse Grounds or Dolphin Banks. Mad Mike
