Tiddler out again. Jacqui thought we could go out mid week but decided on Friday instead. Then we got the weather warning for thunderstorms for Friday. Then on Thursday afternoon Jacqui informed me that they'd changed their minds again. We were on the water by about 3:00 pm and headed across the harbour. It was windier than I expected. We saw several charter boats inside the harbour which made us wonder what it was like outside ? ? ? It was a little lumpy outside but nothing too bad for us. The breeze was SSW so I said it would be flat in Studland. Well I've never fished Studland bay before and probably won't again although it was lovely in the sunshine on a calm sea. It was about 12ft deep, flat sandy bottom & no fish. After a couple of hours relaxing Jacqui decided we should move to where the fish are. I explained the by now the breeze was in a line with Ballard & Old harry so once we were in line with them it would get lumpier. That's OK she said. We headed out to the " Secret mackerel mark " ( Just further out where the water was a bit deeper. ) She was straight into the fish from the start. Many wriggling off the hook before being boated so back in to get some more. Within a few minutes we had about 10 so we stopped. That's plenty for the table. Back into Studland to clean the fish and another peaceful and fruitless drift in the warm sunshine & cool breeze. The chain ferry entrance area was quite turbulent but nothing for the Tiddler to worry about. As we got further in we could see that it was quite cloudy over the land a remarked on our lovely afternoon afloat! Jacqui picked up this little fella in the harbour and I have no Idea what it is. I'll get the book out and try to find it. Saturday when she came back from her Mum's she had a sandwich for lunch and whilst we were talking she said " we ought to go to IKEA." Well her face was a picture when I said " OK then let's go ! " Well she comes out on the boat with Me so it's the least I could do ! I spent the afternoon " OOOing & Pointing " had some lovely meatballs and got home about 9 ish . . . . . . Lovely ! Jim

Tiddler goes to Wareham. Friday was another scorcher so we decided not to waste it. We launched at 2:30 ish and headed up the Wareham channel. With a 12 mph easterly and only a 13 foot boat I thought that going outside the harbour was probably not a good idea. ( I did point out that if we had a Barracuda it would be fine ) We headed towards Wareham at a leisurely pace. When we reached the river entrance we were plagued by biting, blood sucking flies. I looked on line and thought they looked like Blandford Flies but we've not come up in lumps so probably not ! We got to the quay, lowered the rod tubes and carried on up stream . . . . . Past everyone's favourite big house. We went all the way to the bypass before turning back. We stopped at the quay and Jacqui bought us an ice cream. When we left we were against the breeze so no problem with flies. After a while I nagged at Jacqui to take the helm ( she's done the level 2 ) but with it being so rare that we go out she loses her confidence. We went outside of the harbour and although it wasn't a problem for Tiddler it just makes it uncomfortable so we turned back. Jacqui was in charge until we were nearly back to the launching area and it got very busy. We had no rods with us so it was just a " Jolly " And very nice it was too.

After months of not getting out, I decided to take a day off. Looked at the weather and it was changing to SW for Today so we decided to go and have a little " pootle " around. We went to various little spots for a dangle but only had a couple of Mackerel just past the end of hook sands. ( Jacqui likes Mackerel fishing ) ( I started to type " feathering " ) but I knew Rob would be in like a shot ! As ever, The Tiddler behaved herself and handled the sea conditions superbly. I think I used about ½ a Crown's worth of fuel ( anyone under 50 ask an old git ) I have caught plenty of rays though and feeling quite scorched. Saw Boblin on the way back in. Bobi was just starting to reel a flattie in. Boblin looked great. Jim

Tiddler Nips out. Jacqui said at 1:30 yesterday " we could have gone out in the boat " I'd planned an early start on Sunday ( on my own ) But what man could resist his lovely wife wanting to get the tackle out ? ? ? We had a quick bit of lunch and got the boat ready. I was proud of Jacqui, getting stuff ready and getting it right !. I nipped up and re-filled my petrol tank - - - - - even better than I thought. - - - Only £12.60 to fill it back up. Wicked. Launched just after 2:30 and Jacqui got her brave head on and brought us out of the marina and all the way to the harbour entrance. It was very busy and quite lumpy so she asked me to take over. We spotted Mike & Carol on Frisky on our way out and waved to them. I didn't ask Jacqui to stop, she's only just trying to get the hang of things. We saw lots of fishing boats including charters inside the harbour and thought it must be rough outside but no ! It wasn't too bad at all ! We headed off to B/mouth pier for a bit of maccying. We had 10 & 3 scad between us The sea was getting a bit lumpier so we headed back at a steady 15 knots. Back on the slip by 5:45. Home for a curry & a few beers. Luuuuuuuuvly ! Doing a few jobs today ! Jim
