lady jane Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 this is the prototype replacement for my boat i spent an enjoyable day on the fal (falmouth) seeing what the new benefits were. the new hull is about a foot wider in the beam, so stability is better. a good gain is the free draining hull. due to the heavier lay up and wider beam the rating hp has moved from 60 hp up to 100 hp. even though conditions were not perfect yesterday for speed trials it was a good test for stability .with this 100 hp mariner 4 stroke it has been tested to just under 40 knots. a speed boat that you can fish from. cheers andy Quote
Adam F Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 What is it replacing Andy? I have noticed these for some time in the mags - but thought they were similar to an Orkney 520 - clearly not if they are rated for 100hp. What length / beam are they? I must say the hull looks very seaworthy - clinker simulated hull and flared bow... Quote
lady jane Posted October 3, 2006 Author Report Posted October 3, 2006 adam, if you have a look on upload - jane. the length is 5.5 the same as mine but beam is wider and the new boat weighs 700 kg rather than 400 kg. the new one is also higher in the bow. they also do a 6mtr and 6.8 cheers andy Quote
Adam F Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 Do they have a website? The 6.8 looks promising.... Quote
lady jane Posted October 3, 2006 Author Report Posted October 3, 2006 http://www.atlanticfishers.co.uk 01326251046 unfortunately the photos are not on there yet due to it being redone. im sure if you phone and speak to richard or johny they would e-mail them for you. they have a 680 there with a high forward cabin(full height) that looks v v v smart. andy. Mike Y Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 Adam We might be interested in the 6.8 too. If you fancy a joint trip down to Falmouth and we can blag a boat off them for the afternoon Dave and I know some good bass spots down there which should still be producing!! Mike Quote

lady jane Posted November 11, 2006 Author Report Posted November 11, 2006 it looks like the new 550 will also be available with the full height 680 cabin in the new year. cheers andy Quote
Paul D Posted November 11, 2006 Report Posted November 11, 2006 680 looks tempting I must say. Presumably they are semi-displacement vessels, similar to the Orkney range. I presume the 680 actually 6.8 metres long Quote
