Brian
I seem to remember reading somewhere (possibly on this forum), that I you phone the council they'll come and clear the sand. Edited April 3, 2010 by Brian
Gazza
if you need any help showing you getting the boat back on the trailer just ask.......better to ask now because once the fish are in you're on you're own i normally put the trailer in the water till the back rollers are just covered, the shallower the water the easier it is to line up for the rollers the rollercoaster trailer with a good winch will pull the boat onto the trailer in only a few inches of water if needs be Baiterpark slipway charges are inclusive of harbour dues I might push the boat out and pay for 12 months launching at cobbs this year (excuse the pun) and give my back a rest If your reading this Brian can you tell me what it's like on a normal summer sunday eve about 5-6pm compared to Baiter Gary
Brian
Gary I've only ever had to wait for one boat. But I usually go out weekdays, launching at 09:30 and back in about 15:30. Edited April 4, 2010 by Brian
Freddie
The council is very good at moving the sand after a storm from my 25 years experience. I rarely have to go through it to launch or retrieve just remember not to untie/unclip the boat completely from the trailer as when you go down the slipway the wheels of the trailer will stop/slow down suddenly and then the boat could well slip off. (have seen this happen as I did it many years ago!) Weekdays are best, we launch at 07.30 ish and come back at about 3-4pm then go back to the caravan to BBQ the fish. Will launch/retrieve on Saturdays early but always give Sunday a miss as it can get very busy and sometimes dangerous. Never ever rush as that's when most accidents happen. Be safe! eggie
thanks for your responce guys, just itching to get out on the water now, once gareth at cobbs quay, marinautique, has sorted the carbs on my mercury, after being laid up for 18 months by the previous owner he said the carbs had varnished?,ive only had one go on it since i bought it,and it ran badly,so i hope gareth can sort it. maybe for next weekend fingers crossed, was hoping for this weekend but it wasnt to be. Wedger
A good tip to prevent the carbs gumming up is to run the engine while flushing at the end of each outing, but swicth off the fuel until the engine empties the carbs and stops by itself. Each winter I would flush out the carbs with isopropyl alcohol to remove any gum (varnish) as part of the service and winterising process. I presume 'your man' at Cobbs will open the carbs to get at the needles and jets to do the very same. Trev
eggie
yes he said he will try and clear them with an airline and chemical spray,if that dont work its carbs off strip and in the ulrasonic bath,im a car mechanic myself but id rather let the marine techs do what they do all the time,im not too hot with marine engines,i just want it reliable,i have got a 4hp 4 stroke aux.do you know if it will push my 165 ok even against a tide/current?
