urgent help needed on suzuki df 40

I am doing this for a friend of mine who has a suzuki df 40 bought in 02 and the trim and tilt has packed in. It will lift the engine but wont drop it on stripping it down it was found that the ram was rusted and would not drop. doe's anybody know where he can get a refurbished trim and tilt as replacing it new is going to be costly

Ebays worth a shot you will be amazed what can turn up!! I got a new skegg for my suzki, on the same day I broke it!!

Might be worth trying http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Suzuki/Outboard/parts.html, they're in the States but I've used them in the past and they've been very reasonable.

When in Ski Marine Bournemouth I saw the guy sold some outboard mounting brackets - they were hydraulic and a few hunderd quid compare the nearly a grand for a full unit from the manufacutrer.

 

Possibly overkill for a 40 but they were very bling and nicely machined.

 

Could be an option if they do a smaller one - this one I saw was BIG!

I suspect it may have to be a new or re-con unit required.

 

Just a thought as you have the unit stripped, can you get the ram re-chromed?

a lot will depend on the carrier nowadays...

 

having to pay the VAT at the post box is the cheapest version - if it's UPS you can expect a handling charge closer to
