djredrupp
Hey all, planning to head out to the Brittle Star banks on Friday the 25th, taking full advantage of the calm weather and long, hot days! Provisionally planning to head out about 8am if anyone would like to meet up? other than that, ill be keeping an ear open on Ch.6 - just call for Aqus, the blue hulled Merry Fisher 625 Also, could anyone give a hint or two as to where to head if the banks are not fishing too well?? I dont know of any other marks in that area, and its a long way to go with only one plan!!! Cheers guys! Dan
great white
The marks on the RIPs are just outside the BS and worth a go as are a few well reported wrecks close by. Please be aware that the water is very deep 50-60m, so consider the length of anchor warp required, and be sure to have enough before thinking of anchoring. 150m MINIMUM on a calm day at slack. Good news is there are plenty of bait fish out there. If you need them. tight lines Charlie
Sinbad
Dan We (Alun J and Myself) will be going out on Friday as well - so you have a buddy. We are out early and back early - but will be stopping on some banks mid way before going to the codless grounds.... we will definitely be in range - so give us a call on ch6 when you clear the swash. Boat is Imagine. Room for one crew if anyone fancies a trip out - share costs etc.... Paul
Maverick Martin
before going to the codless grounds.... ? Heard that someone on Tom Smiths boat had a 28lber today so if you persevere maybe not so codless , find a spot with fish on and concentrate on shorter drifts over the holding areas Martin
Sinbad
Martin, Thats great for Tom! he puts in plenty of time so fair play to him.....Nice Fish! We will probably find some other spots, as the area I was referring to had not much in the way of stars on the ground, but also a mate of mine went out saturday on a charter and they hauled plenty of rocks with stars on them, but only had the one codling of 5lb.... Just goes to show, there's more skill to this than it seems.... sounds like your day was a cracking day - one we all wish for. I cant seem to get over the magical 15lb mark winter or summer.....yet!! (I hope) Paul Dan we are going out from Parkstone but as said will be ahead of you.

Will do, if you change plans before hand, drop me a text on 07957919180, though thats pretty much useless mid channel! The marks on the RIPs are just outside the BS and worth a go as are a few well reported wrecks close by. Would the RIPS be drifted to fish, in a similar fashion to the BS bank? - hopper rigs with a shad? And with the wrecks, could i be cheeky and nab a number? The admiralty chart weve got is perfect for navigating, but not exactly good for finding a wreck!!! And again, would this be fished like the BS grounds, with a shad on hopper rig? ... havent done much wrecking before, only a few drifts past the fuel barge off anvil point, only managing a pout and too many snags! Cheers for the help Dan
great white
Dan I fish the Rips and the wrecks the same way, using shads ,redgills, sidewinders etc on flying collar rigs and longer traces than used hopping. Simply drop t the bottom slowly to avoid tangles then wind uo 40 turns before dropping again and repeating. If/when you get a take you will know, the rod just takes a bend as the tip powers seawards. DO NOT STRIKE just wind, after letting the clutch do its work. I will PM later Charlie
