Rob
If you are new to boats then I would not launch alone but with someone experienced in launching that size boat at Baiter. I know it's new and shiny and you really want to get out on it, but don't rush! You can quite easily do alot of damage just getting it in and out of the water. Powerboat 2 courses are good if you are new to boat handling. Get the boat bit right and safe and then worry about the fishing!!! Best thing woudl be to join this club! Good luck, Rob
Neal
Hi Mark, As a club member (ignore Rob's inability to check your member status) you will find in the club section some basic information on places to fish and their approximate location. I would highly recommend that you :- Attend a club meeting (first thursday of each month in Parkstone). To introduce yourself. Look for crew or offer to crew on other club boats. Try and buddy up with other club boats out on the same day. Using the knowledge that can be gained from "joining in" will save you years of searching on your own. Look forward to seeing you out there and catching a few! Neal
Jsplace
We are very much hoping to launch from baiter this Sat too so will maybe see you down there! If you spot us in a Blue and white Shetland 535 then give us a wave As for launching, I myself have only launched there a few times and havent had any real problems yet, but be careful, watch tide, sea state and wind and you should be fine. If we do meet up there and you need a hand then please feel free to ask. Oh, and watch out for Jet Skis! Have seen them making life miserable for plenty of people trying to launch there. Graham Nash
I personally have never had any difficulties with jet skiers, (they tend to stay off the slipway while their trailer is being returned or retrieved from their car, but weekend small speed-boaters can be a little bit inconsiderate at times when they stand in the middle of the slip waiting for their trailer to be returned or retrieved from the car. I will be there early Sunday morning, but cant make Saturday.
Coddy
Hi guys, im going out from baiters this saturday in my warrior and as im new to boats and sea fishing can anyone give me a tip off on some productive marks to try with co-ordinates and spiecies i might be lucky enough to catch from them and baits to use. many thanks mark Hi Mark Welcome to the club Here is a link to some of the well known spots in the bay and around the area. http://www.pbsbac.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=5646 Without sounding condescending, if you have little boating experiance I would suggest buddying up with another boat. We all seem to use channel 6 on the VHF so give a shout for any PBSBAC boats and I am sure you will get a response. I would also suggest you rig your anchor to "trip" as many of the marks can be anchor graveyards. If you are not sure how to do this just ask or do a search on the forum and I am sure there will be plenty of info. If you are experianced then you know all of the above. Do take care when going out through the harbour entrance and DON'T try to go in front of the chain ferry, many have tried and not got away with it. Have a good safe and enjoyable trip and we look forward to hearing how you got on. It doesn't matter if you blank, we all get those days. eggie
Thanks guys, had a good day out on the boat today, only landed 3 mackerel , sad I know. It was quite rough out on the Poole patch lost lots of tackle and nearly an anchor but the trip system saved it! The area seems so vast to me ! Where oh where to drop aline?
