Coddy Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 (edited) Well after a bit of a false start Lady Christine has now left Poole for Cowes at the Isle of Wight. The new owner asked if I would bring her over to Yarmouth and so on Sunday at 8.30am I slipped her mooring and headed out of Poole harbour for the last time. My wife, Sue, suggested that she would like to come along to keep me company!!!!!!!! For someone who is not that interested in boats let alone needing a calm sea I was surprised by the issuing order. So off we went accross Poole bay at a steady 15kts with tide and wind following us. All was a nice run until we got to Hurst Castle and the race where the Solent meets Christchurch Bay, this was quite lumpy but did not bother us too much, biggest problem was a bl**dy big power boat of the G&T brigade came steaming at us at about 30kts on the wrong side of the road with a wake as big as his ego. We were soon at Yarmouth and moored up at the short stay pontoon and waited for the new owner to turn up. After a few formalities we walked away and head for a cup of coffee and the ferry back to Lymington. Sorry to see her go but needs must, however I do hope to have another boat soon as I have paid for a mooring until next April. Dave Edited August 1, 2010 by Coddy Quote
Graham Nash Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 I let Little sal go a few weeks ago Dave, It's a bittersweet feeling. I knew she had to go but I didn't like seeing her being towed away. Two consolations were the wedge of money in my pocket (albeit a loss of about 5 grand) and the fact that the new owner has kept me informed on his exploits and it sounds like he is looking after her. I hope you get yourself sorted soon, can you not "sub let" your mooring? Quote
