niggle Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 In our team we managed just one fish from John,Neals mate only a small one right on lines up.A load of boats didn't get any at all. Hopefully a better day tomorrow as today was slow to say the least Nige Quote
ChrisE Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 Best of luck, the weather was absolute cr*p. I watched the charter boats come in this evening as I was walking the dog. "Weather's awful Grommit". I hope that tomorrow brings better weather and fishing to match. Quote
Newboy Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 I've heard from one of the skipper there were about 15 cod caught all day, rumour has it Paul Smith (from Poole?) has the largest of the day. Quote
Gnasher Posted November 17, 2010 Report Posted November 17, 2010 i think 18 pound something was the best fish Quote
pirky Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 Looks better today......GOOD LUCK LADS !! Bring it all home !! Dave Quote
niggle Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 Naf..........that sums up our day. Restricted to the Solent again and weed was a real pain, drop down and straight away we watched the weed hit our lines and drag our leads. So pulling up a 2lb lead with the same amount of weed every 10mins gets very tedious.Only one cod on the boat today,I only managed pout and half a dozen whiting,Neal and John pout. I did enjoy the two days off work and fishing and will do it again. Would of liked to of done better and tried my hardest ,maybe next year? Nige Quote
JIMBOB Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 Nige sounds like hard fishing out there, I hate that solent weed! how did the other boats do? what won? James Quote
Maverick Martin Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 Lads well done on trying Sounds like it was really hard work but if you aint init you can't win it Martin Quote
bassncodformeplease Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 hard luck nige and team thought carpark might have been ok today but didnt see the sea to check! better fishing next year mike Quote
alun j. Posted November 18, 2010 Report Posted November 18, 2010 the problem of fixed dates !! Bet they wished it could have been Mon & Tues this week !!! Last year in the Solent did it for me ! Quote
Neal Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 We were the top boat out of the 25 Boats in the competition - with 6 cod. Two anglers had 2 each and 2 other anglers had 1 each. Approximately 74 cod were weighed in by 43 anglers. Some boats caught no cod at all. The largest fish was just over 21lb. It was a shame that we couldn't get out of the Solent but everyone has the same chance of success wherever it is fished. One day I will catch one on this comp! Neal Quote
Coddy Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Unlucky lads At least you know know where to go (or avoid) when looking for this elusive fish! Lets hope that the conditions are better for the club's Cod comp. Well done to those who took part Dave Quote
tom Posted November 19, 2010 Report Posted November 19, 2010 Fred on Crimson Tide had the overall winner with 4 cod and the boat caught 6 cod on day 2 but blanked on day 1. The winner never fished on day 1 as he was at home ill in bed ! so one day was enough. Quote
