JIMBOB Posted November 5, 2010 Report Posted November 5, 2010 Anyone seen this dont know how to ad a link so... Dorset angler Wayne Little defied his name to land the biggest blue shark ever caught in British waters. Wayne, 41, risked life and limb to snare the big shark, that measured 8ft in length and weighed a mighty 222lb. It beat the previous biggest catch by 4lb Quote

Wedger Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 Why not go the IGFA way??????? and shame the stupid British rules. No claiments, no system. Quote
Jsplace Posted November 6, 2010 Report Posted November 6, 2010 In my book its the most beautiful fish in the sea. Had one of 5ft myself a very long time ago on a charter out of Saundersfoot. Great fish and well done to the bloke for releasing it. Quote
great white Posted November 7, 2010 Report Posted November 7, 2010 What a superb fish A catch to be well proud of, as is the fact that this wonderfull fish is still out there. Charlie Quote
TomBettle Posted November 8, 2010 Report Posted November 8, 2010 Wayne is the Dad of one of my daughters best friends. I didn't know this until I was dropping her back after coming round for tea and she announced "My Dad has just caught the record Blue White Shark". Good on him! I don't actually know Wayne at all. I know his daughters Mum well, but any guy who releases a fish like that is a good bloke in my books. With a bit of luck we may be able to persuade him to join the club as he only lives just down the road from me. It was inevitable that Wayne caught his fish aboard White Water with skipper Andrew Alsop. Andrew is without a doubt the finest shark skipper in the UK. A day or so later he was out again with his regular crew and they hooked an even larger fish. They did actually have this fish on the leader and it pulled the hooks. World wide, Blues can get as large as 400lb+ with some of the largest being found the other side of the pond off Montauk. They are not known as the hardest figting shark in the water, but they are definitely stunning looking. Is it possible, just possible that in the next few years the UK an angler may hook (and hopefully release) a 300lb fish. What's the betting this fish will come off the Irish Atlantic Coast or from the Irish Sea? Here is a video of Wayne Little's fish. http://link.brightcove.com/services/player...id=648117290001 Tom Quote
codpiece Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Cracking video tom, Anyone taking a creature like that of any species to a ''must be dead'' weigh in is an idiot. Well done wayne!!! Derek ( that should get someone going!!) Quote
Rob Posted November 9, 2010 Report Posted November 9, 2010 Nice video - that guy needs to tighten his drag!!! Quote
TomBettle Posted November 10, 2010 Report Posted November 10, 2010 Nice video - that guy needs to tighten his drag!!! 7lb to 10lb of drag on 30lb class is typical for Blues. More is ott. You expect a fish like that to run well and at 7lb to 10lb you tire the fish and not yourself. Even Big Game "proper" only sees 12lb to 20lb of drag duringt the fight cranked up to 30lb to 60lb once the fish has been "leadered" (caught) and you need to bully it boatside. Quote
