I'm looking at forecasts giving neek week with calm days and not cold , as High pressure comes in with light W to NW breeze

Shame the tides are so big !!

Should be nice weather to get out ... and chase the end of the cod and whiting [ ???].

Tuesday seems to look ok for some floundering around in the harbour as I have some fuel to use up....

Desperate times call for desperate measures!!!

This is when you need to put the boat away and earn brownie points by painting and other odd jobs round the house - then when the bream, turbot, plaice arrive we are all free and ready to go catch.

Well, that's what I'm doing!! (Might get a bit of piking in too blow the cobwebs!)

I might also give Tuesday a go.

I might see you somewhere in the harbour.

Mike,

I haven't done any on the lower reaches. I don't see why they wouldn't be there - I think it is such a mixed bag down there! Seen a few reasonable carp caught form the old quay by the boat rental hut!

See if Dommy or Gnasher pick up this thread - they fish around Tuckton Bridge I think.

There are some big pike in and around Clay Pool......but not many...dead baits normally produce double figure Bass. tongue.gif ....no live baiting allowed.....but "nearly dead"( as the Irish say on the Shannon) baits are fine.. wink.gif

Tuckton Bridge is your boundry unless you are a Ringwood member....I have picked up huge fish on my sounder but I suspect they are Salmon / Sea Trout...

Small dead baits can account for some huge perch 4 lb + but its a waiting game!

Ive got Monday off, weather looks ok to me but a swell lightly on the bar in the morning with the looks of the wind over the weekend! If I can surf my way out im headed south of the needles for my last go of the winter biggrin.gif (the boat comes out the water next week)

Oh for pike fishing chaps with this amount of rain falling well worth a look at the mill pool at throop, I had my two biggest pike from there in these conditions @ 28 and 25lbs and there are some bigger ones in there!! best on a rising river, they pile in there! Ive always struggled for pike on the lower stour but Ive had a mullet taken buy a pike in the lower Christchurch harbour! biggrin.gif

Give us a call James if you are in range!!!!!

Monday is looking good but can't go till Tuesday as no crew. May do the flounders in the Harbour but hoping the weather Gods will allow us to get out further and find some whitting and a bonus cod. Will decide Tuesday early AM.

Hard Luck Rory you must be gutted. I am having second thoughts about Tuesday and will probably find some jobs to do on the boat like putting some out of harbour marks into the plotter which I am not going to get to because of the weather. mad.gif Good luck to those that venture out.

Always another time !

I will instead redploy my energies into my recently acquired allottment - which luckily for me, requires completely digging over ! sick.gif

Look fwd to the reports providing people get out...

Cheers

Rory
