Chain tangle

Anchored just before slack today, when we tried to retrieve using alderney rig kept falling down once we stopped to retrieve.

 

Eventualy hauled it by hand and there was a huge tangle in the chain- about the size of football much too big for the bouy ring to go over which is why it kept going back down.

 

We realy cant see how this happened- it was fine when dropped down- any ideas?

Possibly being slack water could you have let the anchor and chain down to fast and it just sat in a heap on sea bed sea movent could have jiggled chain around so it meshed until tide pulled you away leaving chain in a knot .just a thought

Probably it was pretty much absolute slack so anchor hit seabed and chain fell in a coil around it
