With these northerlies thought I'd go and have a look with Chris my crew for tomorrow, conditions were very good inshore infact flat and just a little bumpy out further.

Went out about 6 mile into Poole bay where it was lumpy but not bad at all but wasn't worth the effort with only dogs and a trawler working the bay from the 50/50s to Dolphin sands mad.gif

So we went in tried Southbourne rough.....nothing so in further to Boscombe pier ,lots of small fry showing....sprats ?but we only had some pin whiting and another trawler working between the piers mad.gif

Really don't know what to go for tomorrow now but at least we are fishing

Nige

Poole Harbour could produce the winner........a flatty?

Good luck to all and be safe

Headed west down to Dancing ledge area looking for shelter which we never found so headed back very slowly taking a lot of spray. Although wave hight predictions are lower for tomorrow we will not be heading that far.Best fish to Bill (Ferret) a place of 2. 1/2lb which christened his new rod.

fished the solent today and it was full of weed and the tide hammered through so pulled off early.

BUT............Loads of cod landed from the carpark. 2 boats weighed in 19 between them today in the lymington cod comp (one of those boats only had 3 anglers on). shame i couldnt get round the back ph34r.gif

My crew today was much too late for us to sign in for the comp but we did get out and hid round in Swanage for a few hours. Plenty of wrasse up to a couple of pounds and a few doggies. Headed to Poole patch for the last hour or so (to use up the last of our bait) and had more of the same but with the added bonus of a small conger too.

No cod, nothing decent but was great to be out again at last.

Comp today ,plan was not to fish where we did yesterday so we pushed straight out to Dolphin bank. And it was well rough but we stuck it out in the hope of a conger or large cod.Dogs, pout and whiting then I managed my first cod of the winter @7lb12oz but that was it and conditions were really knocking the hell out of us and conditions were looking worse .So after only an hour and a half or so we up anchored and made our way back inshore against the surf at 7knts with every wave going over the cabin. The rest of the day inshore was slow ,dogs on southbourne rough two small tubs close to beach and a dab on mackerel slither and white rag which was a bonus as number 46 species on Wishin this year.

A big thanks to Rob and Charlie A on running comp and well done to Steve for winning and Dave his skipper on White Magic and to the sponsors
