Heavy boat, braked trailer that will need brakes serviced regularly. Is you current car big enogh to tow it?

Mooring an option? So, antifouling required.

175 etec, you will notice a difference from your 20!!!!

I would research the expected miles per gallon, or gallons per mile if you open her up!!!!!

I guess you would easily spend 100 notes per day pottering around the bay!

I have no idea re build quality etc, but I expect Tom will have an insight!

Early Bayliner trophy build quality not the best newer Trophies (not Bayliner anymore) build quality good

Etec's are quite frugal compared to older generation 2 strokes so may not be as bad as Rob states. I used to use just around 1 litre per mile with my 150hp opti and would guess the etec would be similar

Agree with Rob on the trailering issues you might be better with a mooring except for maintenance costs (not just anti foul) or stack and store but then the costs do start to escalate.

It's all down to own preferences and the depth of the pocket blink.gif

A 2002 Trophy is no longer really a Bayliner and certainly not from the era where they became known as "Binliners"

She looks a pretty good boat, but ask for the Hull Number as she looks a little older than 02. Could be the photos doing her an injustice.

Don't like the add on radar arch, but that is just opinion. I don't think that would have been a factory extra, looks like something the owner had made.

Etec's aren't my cup of tea, but it is a good engine however expect that engine on that boat to consume about 1.5 to 1.75 litres of fuel per mile at 20 to 22 knots.

Up to about 26 knots though, the amount of fuel for the distance travelled won't change much.

Just to add, she is VERY cheap. There is almost always a reason why.

Decided to actually get something a bit smaller than what I already have and going to save some cash. Looking at either a Alaska 500 or a dell quay dory. Seen both advertised for under 5k. Was thinking of spending a bit more and looking at a warrior 150. That is still an option.

Dory = get wet whatever the conditions - dont do it!!!!! Unless you go big like PJ and his Boston.

The Terhi 4020 is a good boat and within your buget - light weight, easy to launch and fuel efficient. Take a look, you wont be disapointed - they do come with a folding cuddy option too!

Cheers rob. Been looking at a dell quay 17ft with a 7th beam. Offeres lots of deck space and a safe fishing platform and also has an open cuddy that should take most of the breaking water. but open to opinions as need advice.

Thoughts on an Alaska?

Dan, I had the Alaske 500xl as a first boat and it served the purpose. I can not fault it. Ask Stuie Cooper who is at Cobbs as he bought mine and I am sure he would give you a sea trail and his opinion on this particular boat. Very good on fuel and would push 22 knots on a flat sea on a 50 evenrude.

Happy hunting.

cheers guys, thats the dory gone then.

Leading the way is probably going to be either an Alaska or something from the seahog range. Commodore or Samuri look nice. Just have to see what funds are available.

If you have a lokk at my web site I have a number of reports from owners and mags on various boats. See signature link at the bottom of post.

Might give you some more ideas.
