Garmin Bluechart G2 card...necessary?

Hi

I have a GPSMAP 750s, and was told by Garmin that the bluechart g2 is for the whole of the UK is included in the unit but I am not seeing many wrecks and I'm sure there must be more than I see on my plotter down there. I have called Garmin and they have said that I wont get any more wrecks from buying a different card, but a few people have said that is not true.

 

Can anyone give me some advice and save me buying a card if it is pointless!!!

Sometimes the wreck is just a silly little symbol that is lost in the background and most of the time they coordinates are wrong.

I've got the G2 vision card in my 4010 and I don't use their wreck coordinates, I use the ones from wrecksite.eu and they are generally bang on. I find that the Garmin charts don't have that many of the wrecks listed and some of their coordinates are a little off.

 

You will also need to zoom in quite close to get enough detail for them to show up.

Thanks for this, out of interest does this include the all of the wrecks on wrecksite and are the coordinates the same?

Hi Chris,

 

I have had a look at two of the wrecks which I know are accurate on Wrecksite and both have slightly different co-ordinates on Southwestmafia. They are pretty close though so should enable you to find the wreck with your sonar.

I use my garmin 551 with out bluechart, shows everything I need to see
