Centauri Knot - used when using worms

I just used a set of fishing scales! where the slide moves up to the maximum reading and stays there!

In the past, Ive anchored the swivel in the vice, and pulled on the other end with the spring balance - not very scientific.

 

Any thoughts on how to do this better / or safer?

why not use some bar bell weights and see what weight you can lift before the line parts
