Stuie Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 Took non member Ken (Derek's mate) out for an airing and decided to try around OH towards Ballard looking for bream. First drop Ken had a sizeable pollock which we followed up with a number of dogs and later on a gar - but no bream. Sport wasn't hectic and we moved to the patch where again dogs were around and a couple of small starry smoothhounds. (is the jury still out whether starry and common smoothhounds are the same species?) Again no bream. A few drifts off Branksome only produced a goby so it was back to Cobbs at 5.30. Great to be afloat again. Quote
niggle Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 Well done on giving it a go,more species as well. Nige Quote
Leicester Fisheagle Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 Well done on your species. We went round to the Dancing ledge area with Yann and Frank where we managed one bream all day. Numerous pouting (20plus) and around 25 dogs and one small conger. Tried the ebb and the flood and several different spots. Spoke to a Poole Charter off the ledge who was there for several hours before us. They had managed two dogs. Dave Lynes was also round there for at least several hours and said they had no bream.. Joined mid morning till mid afternoon by Rossi G with Graham and crew again we believe they had some dogs but no bream. Tried several spots on the run back but only pout and dogs Where are the bream? For anyone fishing the Dancing Ledge Area I have put a warning in another section. Allan. Quote
AQUAJAK Posted May 2, 2012 Report Posted May 2, 2012 Pretty much the same for us...the patches first, then southbourne rough, even close in at Hegistbury, we gave the ledge a miss after watching all the other boats leaving.....just one of those days..although that wall of dark brown water that made it's way across the bay couldn't of helped much... Next time... Nick Quote
