Kingfisher 126
On the hunt for some decent bass so an early start to the banks. At cobbs for 5.30 and got txt crew had dropped out!! Not the ideal start but ha ho. Decided to go any way and see what it was like in the bay, thinking the patch would have a visit instead. In the bay not bad at all so pushed on and caught the joeys no problem. A swell but took a steady trip across to the banks. Plenty of flood tide to help so not to long. Drifts on first bank one take and fish lost, then nothing for a while so moved to another bank. A couple of takes and a bass to the surface chasing the joey, tried to tease it to take it, no chance. Drifted the length of the bank on slack with the aid of the last of the north wind. Tope on feathers and bass lines so abit of fun for half an hour. Ebb tide increasing and wind decreasing as the weather men had said! Nothing at all so getting well fed up!! Off to the first bank and back to the patch if no luck. First drop click the lever over the rod bent over fish on, smile from ear to ear!! Chasing around the back of the boat and runs as soon as it had seen my boat race but safely in the net. Just over 8lb so nice to start with, trip worth while!! Next drift started alittle further same spot both rods bang, fish on both, 5lb on one other one gone. Next drift same again this time on the surface a tope is trying to get joey off the line, net quick before it bites through the line. Stayed on the surface a while with the right hump! Ended with 6 nice bass but lost more, great day in the end and cracking weather and trip back. Wednesday off to Nova Scotia for more fishing with a couple of mates, lake and salmon hopefully. great white
Nice one Chris No doubt your crew has regretted his late cancellation since hearing of your success Charlie
Mike Fox
Sounds a great idea....drifting with livebaits over banks...have only really tried it over reefs without much success. Seems like you've got a great approach there, and I look forward to trying it! Also, have never had a tope on a livebait, and that might be a target now for 2012 Mike
