Struggling with the weather and family commitments, today was the only day I could get a proper fishing session - practice for this Fridays Poole Charter Skippers Species Hunt.

An early start with Stuart as crew saw us out of the harbour by 7.30 - knowing that rain and wind was coming in by lunch time. Wind had already started, so decided an inshore bank was the best option.

Anchor down and Stuart straight in.................to himself!! with his mackerel feathers. Soon sorted thankfully and strings of mackerel followed.

Dogs, dogs and more dogs then a couple of small eyed rays, several tope, a tub gurnard to me and the biggest one I have caught at 2.5lb. Then a grey Gurnard - another first for me. Plus a couple of good size bream.

Fishing continued until the tide went slack.......then came the rain and the wind increased - so time to head back in.

Good session with a continuous stream of fish over the side - just wish the weather could have been a bit better - not really what you would call a summers day.

Thanks again Neal for a great session - as expected Cabin Boy is not best pleased we're racking up your species.

You worked wonders extracting the hook in my finger. Despite it being past the barb your fishing line method was spot on. wink.gif

Well done on getting some fishing done today and getting a few species.

Sorry to hear about the hook stuie, but it sounds like the skipper dealt with that in his stride too. Well done Neal

Well done Neal and Stuie.

Sounds like you snatched the briefest of weather windows, and 4 new species for the year. Definitely a red letter day !
