For the benifit of the "Forum Members Only" on PBSBAC, this thread was moved because a club member thought I was fishing illegally in Christchurch Harbour using live bait ...... ohmy.gif

Without going into too much detail he was wrong..you are allowed to fish live bait.

Davis Tackle will give you everything you need to have a go... great sport

Thanks.... Nick

No it's OK Martin, no need

Just wanted to clear my name

Cheers

Nick

Nick,

I was only basing my statement on RDAA's rule book, and it would appear that there is a conflict in the rules for fishing the Harbour.

As a member of Ringwood and District AA, which has a number of member tickets available for fishing the harbour, (which is how I gain access to the area for fishing) the club rules states for fishing the Harbour, that "All Fish Must Be Returned To The Water" , so as a member there is not an option to livebait.... mad.gif, but as a non member it appears I can ... biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

Happy days....

Left hand right hand comes to mind....

I was also fishing in the harbour that day as one of the kayakers .i was annoyed at being accused of illegal fishing .

Just a misunderstanding on your behalf .

Funny thing though you directed it at three recently retired and one still serving RDAA BALIFFS ....look all RDAA waters alow livebaiting unless they state otherwise ..restrictions on the royalty i believe .

i have posted this so you understand RDAA do not control the fishing in the harbour semcorp do and they have seperate rules you do not have to be an rdaa member to fish the harbour either on a day basis or season basis .anyway no harm done ...come and say hello we dont bite .......and you are forgiven

Cam, if that is the case why does RDDA web site quote..."All fish to be returned: Coarse, Game and Sea species".

I have to say that this is not clear as far as RDDA and I feel the web site and rule book should be clarified as I have asked a number of members and other bailiffs and they were all of the same opinion as myself.. and they all frequently fish the Harbour...

It is easy for committee members and bailiffs to be aware of the specific rules in detail, but it certainly is not clear in the RDDA's rules...as confirmed by my questioning of at least 10 other members..... so I don't need forgiveness..but thanks all the same....I feel better for it anyway.

Still as far as I'm concerned this a RDDA issue, not for discussion on this thread...

Tomo

you wish is my command .i have to say there are a number of misinformed people about if balifs and RDAA MEMBERS have told you live baiting in the harbour is banned ...so at great personel cost ..well alright a phone call i have sorted it for you .

I have phoned Dave mcgonigle and he is going to clarify that live baiting is allowed in christchurch harbour on the RDAA WEBSITE he is also going to join here as a registered member and let you and anybody else know the situation ...LIKE I HAVE TRIED TO EXPLAIN semcorp make the rules RDAA LEASE THE FISHING RIGHTS ...

and one other thing you must realise if you accuse anybody of illegal fishing you must be correct in your accusation ..a different person would react in a different manor ..you are still forgiven

I think Alan acted on the information given and I am not sure "Careful mate live baiting is banned in Christchurch Harbour " is accusing anyone of illegal fishing!

Cam,

You are quite right, another person may have acted in a different manor....but if the rules are so apparently clear...why the need to now clarify them on the RDDA web site?

My statement was an observation and interpretation in relation to the issue, which is also currently the opinion of other RDDA club members and bailiffs ...

But as I have already stated, this thread is not the place to discuss such matters as this is a Poole Bay forum.

And I still do not require your forgiveness.

i never saw your original post the moderators moved it but was informed that you accused Nick roberts and the kayak anglers of ILLEGALLY LIVE BAITING IN CHRISTCHURCH HARBOUR i understand you went on to say you had better have licences or you will be in trouble ...YOU WERE WRONG ON BOTH COUNTS ..AN APOLOGY WOULD OF BEEN THE NORMALWAY ROUND THIS .BUT HEY .

End of issue oh yeah and if it annoys you ..you are forgiven again this time for the lack of an apology .

What Tomo actually said was as follows:

Careful mate live baiting is banned in Christchurch Harbour as all fish have to be returned "UNHARMED"... all fish must returned to the water alive.. it's total catch and release!!!!!!!...You will be in the shit if caught ! ...also assuming you had a valid permit.

Not quite an accusation but advice so now who owes who an apology?

It is always best to respond first hand not second hand

thats not giving advice its accusation and you know it .look if you see anything read anything or suspect anything is amiss or illegal contact the authorities not slander someones name on a public forum .I do not expect you to side with me for one minute ,you do not know me from adam .

had Tomo contacted the RDAA he would of been told livebaiting was allowed .the rules on livebaiting are clearly written in the book .

has tomo contacted semcorp he would of been told the same ,but no he had to sour NICK ROBERTS report on a twelve four bass .i am still waiting for an apology but i wont hold my breath
