Paul J Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 Commercials tipping off the MMO? whatever next? http://www.fishupdate.com/news/fullstory.p...RERS_URGED.html Quote
Leicester Fisheagle Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 Seems that Recreational Sea Anglers amongst others could be part of the problem and that the Commercials are the Good Guys or am I reading it wrong? Allan. Quote
plaicemat Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 I think we have to accept that not all commercials are bad guys, we have to feed the country at the end of the day. On the same principle, not all 'recreational' anglers are lily white, I think those of us who fish out of Mudeford have known one or two who are blatantly fishing for profit on an almost daily basis. Terry. Quote

Terry. I think Terry is right There are good guys in both camps. Not all RSA are the same as many of us in this Club. but most commercials get bad press because the majority are willing to take what they can when they can, with only slight regard for sustainability and conservation. Paul J Posted August 21, 2012 Author Report Posted August 21, 2012 More bun fights to come especially over the B.A.S.S MLS which is why we need your support. The commercials are very good at this and have lots of money in their fighting fund so we have to have bigger numbers of support on our side PJ Quote
great white Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 As someone who has dealings with the MMO a fair bit, I am far from surprised that they are talking crap. It sounds like a few incidents reported about RSA's selling to rest homes etc have been elaberated while they ignore the commercials in every port that blatently ignore laws and bylaws. They should be educating the public and the buyers Charlie Quote
dicky Posted August 21, 2012 Report Posted August 21, 2012 it isn't possible for a "recreational" fisherman to sell his catch for profit. the minute he does this he stops being a rsa and becomes a commercial fisherman, an unlicensed one but a commercial none the less. the commercial sector are trying to put these scumbags in our camp but by definition they can not be rsa. unlicensed fish sellers are worse than commercials and have the potential to do more damage as they are unregulated and not monitored so there catch goes unaccounted for. do not accept responsibility for these tax dodging scum.
