I'm looking into Lawrance HDS gen 2. Which chart card do you prefer / recommend for this unit from an anglers perspective.

BTW do these plotter /sounders come with transducers or are they supplied separately as there seems to be a choice???

I would need (desire) structure scan and broadband down scan I think

Your thoughts please.

I have all you mention Trev,I've got the platinum plus card but the gold is good enough.

Side and down scan is a great search tool for marks and features but to get the best soundings you need to be doing a max of 3 knots.

I have the 83/200 skimmer/ temp/ speed transducer .

If you would like a play, could be a good excuse for a trip on Wishin Too?

Trevor I have Navionics gold on one plotter and platinum on another.  After the initial new toy stage you would rarely use the extra bells and whistles that platinum offer.  If I were specking again I would be happy with the gold charts and save a few quid.

Cheers Martin sounds good advice particularly as I don't want to clutter my small brain. I am looking to improve and consolidate the information which is most relevant to my boating experience from an anglers angle  The sounding tools I think I could really get into looking at all the propaganda

I use the gold chart, nice to use and accurate

I believe that the size of the set determines if the sounder unit and transducers are included

small ones come with it built in , the larger ones have a seperate box and transducer for more power and more choices.

You can buy the plotter without the sounder, marketed by the mod No and M [Map only]

Hope that helps

Thank you Charlie!

Another interest would be a watertight TFT monitor for the stern display. It only need be a monitor to view whilst on deck / fishing. Any ideas?
