Paul J Posted January 9, 2005 Report Posted January 9, 2005 Had to say goodbye to a loved one today my boat Stepping Stone has gone to Devon. The bloke who bought it, knew the Website and called it excellent so the word gets about. I'll now be looking for something a little bigger Quote

Paul J Posted January 9, 2005 Author Report Posted January 9, 2005 Looking for something smalll enough to fit in the garage and solo launch for those spontainious get up and go trips. budget is only Quote
Sinbad Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Hi Paul We bought our Orkney strikeliner (older version of 520) for about that budget, but spent alot more on turning it into a decent and useable fishing boat. Good Luck! I'm struggling to fit it into my garage, it may only be 5.30m long from stem to O/board, but the drawbar on the trailer adds another metre etc etc. and the cuddy fits under the door with 100mm to spare just ! I reckon an 8m garage would be plenty. Hope yours is big enough. Now a little 440, that would be a different matter, and light enough for one to self launch. I find the strikeliner a bit of a brute to recover unless you can use the car to retrieve it from the water. Hope this helps Paul Quote
Paul J Posted January 12, 2005 Author Report Posted January 12, 2005 Paul, Thanks for the advise, The garage is very long but it's the height that's the issue 6ft 2" clearance unless i change the garage door from an up and over to a two door job which will give me 6ft 6ins Other than that it's go to battle with the missus over the drive way ( not advisable) Paul J Quote
Adam F Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 Paul - many trailers can be adjusted - Les gets his 165 in a normal garage, the boat just sits a bit lower on the bunks. I think a strikeliner would be a good move for your budget. Quote
Sam Posted January 12, 2005 Report Posted January 12, 2005 splash out and buy a lockin 333 harbour pilot then you would have plenty of room might need a bigger garage thow sam Quote
