alun j.
Just a pointless enquiry....... ...... the little envelope symbols on the left hand side of forum items.... I get the different colours/ shades but why do some, like the topics I start, have a little black spot in the centre of the envelope symbol ?? Am I a 'marked man' ?? Alun. Paul D
Not sure Alan, perhaps you are a marked man However, this post does not have a spot on it. I will have to take a deeper look to work out why/what the spot signifies
Paul D
Ah ha - worked it out. This post initially had no spot on it and now it does have a spot on it...... Can you see what this means ? ( It would be too easy to just tell you ). BTW: I have never noticed this before and could be useful to decide where to post ( hint hint )
alun j.
Hi Paul, Not too sure what you mean........ it's not to do with topics viewed or replied to as you'll see if you visit one of the pages of topics....... some have spots, some don't ! ........... all mine do!! Any thoughts ?? Alun.
Maverick Martin
I think you will find if you have contributed to a thread that the dot will appear. I have had a quick look through the forum and it seems to be like this for me Martin
Paul D
Agreed Martin, I twigged that it shows the items you have contributed to. I was initially puzzling why the thread here had no "spot" and after I replied it suddenly had a spot. Alun, I guess that as all your threads have spots, this must mean you reply to most threads. This is actually quite a useful feature I think.

alun j.
NOT SO SIMPLE !!!!!!!! Maybe there's another alo alogorythm [ way of working] !!..... Look in 'catch reports'.........'Dungeness...', started by Codfather...... he later replies.......... no spot !! ??? I'm just curious....... as a ' marked man'. Alun. Maverick Martin
Alun Under Dungeness you have not posted a reply, are you saying there is no spot on your envelope, if so this is correct. The thread envelope will not be marked on your machine until you have posted a reply. I think the idea of spots is to mark threads you have contributed to assist in keeping track of where you have posted. Update: I hadn't posted in that thread and had no dot, posted and a dot appeared, deleted post and spot dissapeared. Problem solved....I think Martin
